Legnum's & Aristo's - bargain city right

With prices around 12k each you'd be hard pressed to find a better bargain out there, riight.

Contemplated buying either of these cars last year, naturally you know which way I went.

Considering their position in the market they can definately be compared against. I'm still not sure which one would be quicker, because lets face it most cars won't be staying standard for long so the usual exhaust and boost up should be taken into consideration. Just want to hear your stories now that they are on the roads here. Definately very upgrade friendly unlike Legnum - to an extent.

Do they handle like they look?

I'm also asking because the other half needs a reliable car and once the Legnum arrives was thinking to import an aristo as a second car.

So spill the beans on that boat with the 2jz.

Had asked similar on SAU last year so check out what they had to say, not many cars in Aus back then though:

Should I look for something else or are these things worthy bargains, or perhaps I could just get another Legnum - Bradc style!

i was in the same boat, looked at aristo's before i found the legnums.

aristo's look hot (especially black ones, dumped on some dished rims), and the 2JZ has lots of potential..

however, the bad points are, they are heavy, so slow off the line, but once they are moving they go hard.
and the interior is fugly! looks old and dated, especially the grey... and the instrument cluster is horrible!

find me an aristo with a re-trimmed interior, and a big single, and i'll buy it straight away! :)

Yeah, I could definately live with a pimped out single aristo. They are poor mans Mercedes I guess, and your right about the interior - if the exterior looks are questionable then inside it's just plain hideous.

Bogan Bob - Dion, mentioned that an aristo tried to cut him off or something and that the legnum was quicker.

yeah, they can be slugs to get moving...
we looked at them a few times.. hell we almost bought 2 of them..

although, the lack of a nice interior, and want of another sports coupe has led us to trade the stagea for a supra instead. :D

I just love the fact that you can screw 350kw+ at the wheels out of them fairly safely with standard internals.

I rememeber a very old HPI issue and they had a 50 cent coin balanced upright ontop of an RZ Supra and revved the engine to like 4 grand without the thing falling over - now that's how you build an engine Nissan.

I guess traction is going to be an issue if someone did go for stage 2 or more mods.

....Mitchy, you (Kylie) is getting rid of the StageA? I suppose you're going for a Supra RZ (one of my other "hero" cars) so it's worthwhile. I've never been a fan of luxo-barges but I can understand the value of the Aristo. I know what type of engines can fit in there. Still, I'm also biased ;)

Yeah Gav, its up on carsales.

we'd love to get a RZ, but they are still pricey.. and the SZ aint slow (kylies brother has one that does 14.5 1/4 mile, so still on par with the stag)
not much point having 2 wagons, so going from Skyline + Stagea, to Supra + Legnum, hehe.

going to look at a black, wingless aerotop on sunday (hot!!!!!!) so hopefully the stag goes before the supra is sold.

I quite like the Aristos, but I agree with the comments about the interiors. Toyota really didn't try to hard with their interiors, the colours and finish are butt ugly.

I would love a black, slammed Aristo ;)

There is a lot to be said for the 2JZ though.

I almost bought an aristo instead of the legnum, it looked like a good mix of power/power potential and luxury. But then i saw the light when the legnum was approved for import (possibly a little before i think actually) and here i am :). The fact they are all auto put the nail in the coffin for me though

Id still like to have a drive of one, but it seems they are not quite as quick as the legnum ;)

Come in Dion and drive the one we have, handling you will take your Leggy any day, but the Aristo is a nice car
