My car's booked in to the mechanic on tuesday to get the manual conversion done finally! Just thought id use a thread on how it goes, what parts Ive used and things that id do differently if it happened again!

Good work. I am slowly doing mine at the moment so will be following how you go.

Sorry if its rude to ask, but whats it worth roughly to convert to a manual? via a mechanic that is.

Also what are your reasons why? just wondering..

It would be good if you could list all the information you can about this, like price, time taken to complete, parts needed etc

I was quoted $3,000 to do it through a mechanic with a Skyline using an RB25DET gearbox (R33 Skyline) if that helps in a rough ball-parkish figure!

ok sorry havent been on here lately!

The mechanic has only gotten round to spending time on it as of a few days ago, but the box is in, shifter, pedals are all in, but i need to find the mount that attatches the gearbox to the chassis on the right hand side. The manual one has 4 bolts but the auto one had 3? anyone know if there is a quick fix, ie. drilling out?

Also need the mount that holds the shifter cables onto the box prior to the selector.

anyone shed any light on where i can get these bits???

cheers, bart

I think my mechanic had a similar problem with the mount, but from memory the magna shared the same mount? He got it to fit with a magna one.... check the thread here

When you say right side is that the one between the cam belts and washer bottle? I think you meant the left one, gearbox to battery side. I can post a photo from my kit if you want as well as the cables' bracket.

It takes me about 24 hours to do this job - normally spread over three days. You will need the box, clutch, flywheel, spacer/gasket the bolts to the engine block, clutch slave & master cylinders with pipework, gearbox mount, gearlever, control cables, clutch & brake pedals and a small amount of cable to hotwire the inhibitor switch to allow the car to start and the reverse lights to work. You'll also need a hole cutter for the clutch master cylinder and some oils - transfer box & gearbox, plus clutch fluid, coolant and maybe a top up of engine oil if you don't change it.

Hope that helps!

Yeah thats the one, gearbox to battery side. Pics would be great, part number or source of the bits would be even better!!!

Cheers, Bart.

Ok i went and picked up the mount from the mechanic, and the manual box definately has 4 bolts sticking up for mounting to the passenger side strut tower, whereas the auto mount has 3. Anybody know where i can source this part from????

waiting on a reply!

when these bits are sorted then it can be all finished!!!

Here's that LH gearbox mount. The blue ties on the bracket are holding the "U" locks for the two cables.

they are EXACTLY what i need! any part numbers available????? getting desperate now! lol

Ok its official, all of you scrap your autos, there is just no point. Car feels completely different, its tight, responsive and pulls like a goddamn freight train

Lol, that is a strong post right there.
