manual conversion

Hey guys I think I will do the manual conversion to my galant if I cant source an auto to replace mine with in the morning then ill be buying a manual conversion kit from vic so will take about 2-3days to get here in Brisbane but as soon as it does ill be starting it...
The auto box is already out so that saves me a fair bit of work just have to source a good hd clutch...

I no its very close to Christmas but if anyone who has done it before or knows our cars inside and out that can spare a bit of there time or even send me a few hints on the conversion that would be great
Im going to do it at my very crowded workshop in darra, Brisbane..

Any help would be great, thanks guys

My first hint. Drop the engine out. Seeing as though you have to wait, do this now and it will save a heap of time later. The clutch lines would be a nightmare whilst the engine is in. That and it will be a sinch to line everything up and bolt together.

While the engine is out, look at maybe doing your 100k service if not already done.

Haha thanks I no its a big job but only way is to do it lol im sure I can handle it... Im pretty sure the 100k service has been done its got 120k on the clock and I recently serviced it bout 1000km ago so pretty much just the conversion needs to be done.
Its been a while since I read bout doing the conversion but there is some sort of rewiring that needs to be done and I cant remember wat it is and couldnt find it in the forum last night, does anyone know wat it is?

about the clutch line, i think it might be easier if you get a workshop to make you some S/S braided clutch line.. that way its flexible yet strong.. just make sure its long enough to suit your application

Yeah if I can I think I will... I just have to wait till cam1018 gets back to me so I can get the kit from him... Hate the waiting game

I'm not doubting that you can handle it, I just think you should pace yourself lol. It won't be a weekend job, if will be atleast a 1 week + job. It took a workshop about 35 hours to do mine.

well ive saved myself a few hours since the auto box is already out of it and im gonna work on it till its done after work and on the weekend hopefully have it done christmas morning but my hopes arnt high at the moment if i cant even contact the seller of the kit

if only the idiots at the shop would have looked into part availability before they pulled my car apart 2 weeks after i gave it to them then it may be fine by now but not my luck unfortunatly

Sadly, looks like your time schedule may take abit longer than hoped, but yes i agree what others have mentioned... it'd be a big job...

Don might be onto something here, you will end up with a built box and possibly make a profit. Although if you bought dons car it would be really tempting to keep the brakes also.

well it may take too long to get the conversion as i start work again on the 3rd so wont be able to do it myself after then might just have to get the auto box and get it rebuilt so i can sell it and buy a manual galant instead i dont want a wagon sorry don

ahh well you wouldnt of noticed me as of lately as the car has not been moved for the past two months, covered up, with dead grass underneath ha

haha i used to live in inala so i still go thro there a bit and i work at darra so for the last 5 years i been in and out of inalla never noticed u once haha
