1997 Galant VR4 and a very old cordia turbo
OK so it won't be a problem for a few years, but what car do I get next. The VR4s went out of production in 2003?? I have my 1997 VR4 galant and just love it. But in 5 years time it will be 16 years old and time to get something else. The very youngest VR4s around will be 10 years old.

Now I would love an updated VR4 in say 5 years time - but that is unlikely - and a genuine shame. So what car next?

Just keep that one pristien...could be a classic jap car in years to come...look at the RX-7 Series 1 ... could have bought one for about $2000 a few years back now they are up again to $7000 or more

I'm looking for a quality Aristo in the near future sometime...
And a BMW K1200R (bike)..

Who knows, maybe the Audi RS6 Avant or BMW 335i Touring might be affordable in 10 years! (just like the Legnum is now).

I'd worry about that in five years or so - once I get this car back on the road I expect it to last a very long time, but you never know what's going to come out. I expect in a decade anyone who doesn't have electric for a daily driver will be a bit of an idiot!

"Of course I know that. What kind of idiot do you think I am?"

"I don't know. What kinds are there?"

kind of a stupid question really...u have no idea what cars will be released next year let alone in 5yrs time.

your situation might in terms of family, job, location, money etc which would alter your 'dream'.

besides, each car ages differently and a car thats a cpl of years old at the moment might age alot more than another model.

weigh up your situation when the time arises. its easy for everyone to say oh get this or get that, now.

my $0.02c inc GST.

3 letters - GTR

What better upgrade for a VR4 then a bigger and better V6 Twin Turbo AWD =)

Hopefully in the future they resurrect the VR4 back to its mighty glory...

Assuming Mitsi don't reintroduce the VR-4's, the only cars I could see myself potentially wanting to replace it with would be an RS6 or the new VE Commodore Wagon.

i would be looking at a jzx110 verossa or a mark II

Audi Rs6 is exactly right.
Its got a factory 331KW and do the same intercooler boost exhaust and you are looking at one awsome car.
I know I would already have one if I didnt loose over a million dollars last year. Oh well have to rebuild the business and get a RS6 in a year or two.
Commodore he he he he I think I will stick to a 15 year old vr4 as it will still be 5 years ahead of that holdent badge.

Ouch dude that's gotta hurt!

Yea Brad I'm surprised at the commodore thing too, I think the respectomometer just dipped a little :(

;) :P

But that's the point.

In 5 years time you won't be importing a brand new car, you will be importing one built now.

If you want a 5 year old car you won't be buying a VR4 from now on.

In 5 years it is the cars out right now, and built in the last 5 years, that you might be importing

OK let's limit the discussion to what can be imported from Japan. I am sure there are some $100 000 plus jobbies out there I would love. We are talking get great bang for your buck.

When I picked up my VR4 there was a nice looking GTR there. Not sure what specs (some look good but don't have the grunt). They are still making them today so yes I think it could well be in the running.

I just wish Mitsu would update the VR4.
