I am always amazed at the engineering that goes into these things. Especially in the days before computers (not necessarily this example) when people had to visualise where everything went and draw it out by hand.
I've actually had a blast pulling this all apart. I've learned so much and met some really cool people in the process.
I did get a strengthened shaft. It is the last and strongest version of the shaft (mine was the second), which has 4 flat sections instead of two in my original one. The workshop I picked it up from was about 5 times the size of my mate's (which is one of those American Barn style sheds) with about 10 evo rally cars, 1 GTO race car and about 4 WRX rally cars! I was in heaven! All nice blokes to talk to as well!
Don't do stupid shit like I did and you won't be next lol
Mind you, all the people I've told who are in the know about Evos and VR4s have said that whilst it's not unheard of, it's quite hard to break them and they were all pretty surprised to hear that it had broken.
It's a shame this workshop was a private workshop as it's much closer and I'd be happy to take it there for any and all work.
