Hey guys,

<start blatant self-promotion>

My business partners and I have just launched ShareYourLove.com. It aims to raise money or charity through sharing images of the things that you love, funded 100% by advertising partners.

So check out the site, join up and show the world how much you love VR-4s or coffee or your dog or sleeping or flush fitment or World of Warcraft... :D

We're especially keen to get great photographers on board, so if you know any please forward the site on and share your images on Facebook/Twitter (share buttons are under each image)

<end blatant self-promotion>

cheers

Lee

I first wondered what the title meant :) but when I read it I too agree what a fantastic Idea, well done Lee :)

One comment after using the site for a few minutes:

You need a way gruntier server. If this thing takes off the way you want it to, it's gonna get swamped and die.

Either that, or it's just my connection - but everything else I browse is fast.

Strange, the server doesn't seem to be under any load. It's hosted in the states so there is quite a bit of latency.

We're currently looking at dedicated hosting (it's currently on the Amazon cloud) to get a bit more grunt for less money.

Was every page slow or the upload/creation process?

Great idea !
Always good to see people doing their bit for charity and doing it with love.

Was every page slow or the upload/creation process?

Pretty much every page, yes. :(

The upload process was noticeably slower though.

It also seemed to get stuck in a caching/refreshing problem when I did some "nonstandard" navigation (ie. manually typing the URL querystring). But that might have been just IE.

Hmmm it does seem to be a lot slower for me in IE than with Firefox, I wonder what's going on there...

Thanks for the upload and the feedback Derek, much appreciated.

One more thing (I know there is a feedback feature on the site itself, but OZVR4 is faster :P)...

The navigation controls (next/prev photo etc.) are not very obvious to me. They're located in the right area but for some reason they don't jump out as navigation controls.

More feedback, from a friend of mine:

"it's not a very easy site to use"

"I found a drop down menu and clicked on recent greats, and nothing has happened"

Probably IE, and not sure how fast.

IE does the same to me occasionally when I'm using the site.

That's pretty cool :)

My only gripe is the navigation, it isn't as obvious as you will need it to be!

Remember the general consensus of everybody on the internet being stupid!

Do you have some kind of moderation thing going on as well, incase people upload things that may be offensive or inappropriate?

Hi Tom,

thanks for the feedback on the navigation, I'll look into our options.

Yes, all images go through our moderators. As much as some people love boobs, it's not appropriate for our advertisers :D

Maybe one day we can launch nsfw.shareyourlove.com!
