what do you think happened here? just by seeing these photos
a bit more information, this engine was Don's old engine. my dad and I opened it up today to see if there were any damages to the crank.. but from what we've seen looks like the bottom end might be a goner..
the shiney part of the crankshaft looks scoured might be stuffed oil pickup filter in the sump letting in fine metal
shit thats damaged the bearings and crank
by the camera angle the main caps havent walked have they ?
Interesting colour variation on the counterweights from cyl 1/2 and 3/4. Did it spin the big end or what? Obviously the crank is near paperweight stage.
Looks like the big end has been dropped and im not sure it can be fixed.... the scoring that's on the crank may be fixed but it just depends on what parts you can get to counteract the repairs..... good luck your going to need it
colouration is def due to heat. It had been complaining for a lil while. It doesn't take long without oil pressure for a bearing to let go or get so hot it gels to the crank.

There would have been noise...a bit of it too. Sometimes people mistake it for noisy lifters, but for a 'trained' ear it's easy to tell the tap/knock is from the bottom of the engine.
