new boost controller

Very nice. My old mechanic used to run this on his drag car; said they were the best in his opinion.

Funny how the components except of the screen look VERY similar to the greddy profec (i.e. wiring loom and connectors / solenoid) and the controller follows the style of the blitz iD (i.e. control with screen and control module that hides inside the dash.

You should be very happy with it. Can I ask what your paying ?

I like how it has an external MAP sensor that you can mount under the bonnet. So that you don't have to run a mega long vacuum hose into the cabin like the Profec needs. All the separate bits do make for a more complicated install though.

paying 499 from brissy.pretty cheap.yea harder to fit but its small

What's a good EBC for a very low budget?

There are a few favourable features that is lacks from it's bigger brother. If i was going to pay that much coin, i would go the extra and get the full version.

Also, it runs a solenoid instead of the stepper motor (what HKS EVC is renowned for)

im running a GFB boost tap.i hate hitting boost cut and having to pull over on the side of the road with a bloody allen key in the dark.the "bigger brother" EVC has features i wouldnt really use.can control boost in different gears, tells what percentage throttle ur at. not really worth the extra 300 bucks, may as well save a bit more and get a ECU.

One of my mates has this fancy little EBC in his R32 GTR which seems to control the boost levels really nicely, but doesn't do hard cuts like in ours, just lowers the boost to a nice level instead of stopping all boost at all!

That's what I want, I have a TurboSmart Boost Tee so it's not as simple to find the highest but nicest levels lol

my blitz id Ver III never spikes; never hits boost cut... runs 15psi all day everyday... worth every cent I paid for it.

Hey Brett, how are you finding 15psi? Must be a massive increase over stock.

I have left it way to long to get my SAFCII tuned for the 12-14 i wanted to run, its starting to get way to hot. I can't wait though to see what double the boost feels like!

So the 15psi, have you had your ECU done or anything else done?

Gizzmo seem to be the best value for money. Also the jaycar ones are getting a good rep as well.

Gizzmo looks good, I remember seeing them ages ago.. But they're all like $340+ new..

So I'm going to keep looking around, I'm expecting that's the lowest prices for any brand I'll find! I'm just trying to stick to a budget hehe..

If anyone spots a decent EBC for sale anywhere cheap, second hand or whatever please let me know!

Gizzmo is pretty good for the price; but imo, you can get a profec b II for the same price range if you look hard enough.

Trev, 15psi is good, especially over stock. It actually feels like they are doing something.

I'm used to a 4cyl with 20ish pound boost; so its hard to compare as the 4cyl always felt like it had WAY more get up and go. However, you can really feel 15 come on, especialy off the lights or in 3rd gear.

No mods done to mine, no ECU flashing. I don't drive full boost all day everyday; I use my right foot to keep the grandma style for fuel economy. However its nice when you get the urge to not have to $%@ around and change the boost. Just put your foot down and off you go with no spikes.

well by the sounds of you guys with EBCs, it sounds like it does a reasonable job of controlling boost spiking which is what im chasing too.i know at high rpm the boost tends to drop off but surely they would be better at trying to hold the set boost level better than this boost tap.......?...

Control boost better ... yes ... stop the drop off completely... no ...

With such small turbo's it is near impossible to have 99% control over them. But a decent EBC will do a good job especially compared to a boost-tee; after all the EBC will adjust depending on the variables it receives from its own sensors.

$30 manual boost controllers are just as good as the electronic ones! I've used turbotechs for my last 3 cars....

Hmmm Turbotech or any bleed valves are good back for buck, but i certainly do not agree that they are as good as an EBC. Maybe a Dual Stage Turbosmart as they are just 2 bleed valves with a switch to change between them.
