Has anyone had their car stalled by another car with a stupidly loud exhaust ?

I had a skyline go past me at a set of lights this morning with an exhaust that rattled the windows on my car. The car seemed to just stall (I had the clutch in at the time)

About 10 minutes later at another set of lights, an S15 went past me with the same type of spastic loud exhaust and when it went past, the revs on the car dipped right down, but it didn't stall this time.

Anyone had this happen to them or have any ideas ?

Sounds like the vibration experienced by the car has exaggerated a loose connection somewhere. I'd probably check to make sure all is tight... (All encompasses a lot, I know!)

I just thought is was extrememly odd. I mean both cars were industrial deafness type loud. The car doesn't do it at any other time

You need to check it out with a subwoofer. Do you have one in your car, or even better on your home hi-fi that you could move in & around the car to test it?

Here's a theory to follow Bradc's recent incident.

The first time it heard a loud noise, it scared the idle adjustment screw out of the thread. But because you weren't moving it fell back in.

The second time, it was a little more aware of it and only scared the screw a little way out and back in.

Maybe another couple of times and it wont be scared as much....

...Oh and get a Grenade launcher with noise seeking attachment.

Check then re-check the negative terminal on your battery.... Can't really think of anything else that'd cause that!

Yea I was thinking for a second "Does Bradc have the same prob as me ?"

I think my idle screw ran off with my valve stem seals !

Oh & jeez I like being referred to as "other Brad" ...

That is one weird problem though ?

Oops, Sorry Guys. It's been a long week....

But maybe everyone should check their idle screws just to be sure...
