When I park my car in the morning and it's, say, 15 degrees, and then during the day it gets stinking hot, when I return to my car, the outside air temp reading is "stuck" at what it was when I parked...

However...

If I turn the ignition off and back on (don't even need to start the engine) it goes up by 1 degree... I can repeat this until it levels off at the actual outside temperature.

What would be causing this? faulty sensor? or faulty climate control head unit?

This only happens when it gets hot during the day, and not every time.

Thats... odd? I'd say the unit is fscked, in that it's locking up and not registering the temp change until it gets reset by ignition off/on. Swap it out and see?
