I work for Motorola and we have the contract with the Victorian government to provide the Victorian Police, Paramedics (MAS) and Fire Brigade (MFB) with both a digital radio system and an in vehicle computer system.
I run an office in Brunswick where all the cop cars are built but have been sent out in the field to upgrade ALL the cars out on the road
Interesting stuff, though - in WA they STILL don't have an in-car computer system up and running, despite a 15 year, $80m project... Why they can't just license someone else's system is just beyond me...
HA! Believe it or not dude, its not such a fun toy to play with, everything is recorded and tracked so its just not worth it. The fun bit is logging in to the admin profile and playing solitaire while sitting in a cop car on a piece of military grade hardware worth about 15k a set
