Hey guys anyone heard of these Plasma Direct Ignition Coils for the EVOs ?

They're to suit the EVOs from 4-9.

Copied blurb ;

PLASMA DIRECT (PAT)

A revolution in ignition technology!!
The Plasma Direct is the ignition coil with a high power amplifier built in to it.
The Plasma Directs produce 4 times more spark energy than stock coils and also generate an ultra fast multi spark discharge of 10 sparks up to highest RPM.
The spark amperage is increased 100%, allowing the spark to reach many more molecules and therefore accelerate the ignition and combustion process. This is extremely important in forced induction applications but also improves the performance of normally aspirated engines.

The Plasma Direct will increase horsepower and torque throughout the entire rpm range. This upgrade will also reduce fuel consumption. Even the engines with a legendary smoothness will be further refined with the Plasma Direct upgrade. Our Plasma Directs are OBD II compliant and C.A.R.B. approved.

Installation is easy. Direct bolt-in to the engine, no splicing or cutting into stock wiring, simply replace the stock coils with our Plasma Direct Coils and ready to go!

Plasma Direct is made to a specific application. Please check Application chart to find the correct model for your car.

Highlights

・100% secondary current (Spark Amperage) increase
・4 Times Spark Energy Increase for the initial spark discharge
・Easy installation. Only replace stock coils to Plasma Direct.
・Compatible with all OEM components
・Compatible with OBD-II (On-Board-Diagnostics)

Would these be compatible at all with our VR4s ?

RE compatibility, I can't comment. The description does have me worried, however - quite apart from it sounding like a 'magic performance improvement', there's no such word as 'amperage', which any company with real engineers should know well. Unless I'd seen impressive, compelling evidence demonstrating quoted performance improvements completely free of reliability problems I wouldn't put one anywhere near my car...

Makes me wonder how they can provide so much more power too. They could burn out spark plugs and create detonation if they create too strong a spark, and misfiring if they aren't as strong as stock. I'm not sure they are a good idea at all. Have you seen any big Jap tuners such as JUN use them?

Yea scratch this thread guys.

Was doing some more reading about them (they make them for various makes) & was reading a BMW forum where they have really f-ed up the diagnostics.

Kill this thread & bury it.

King_panther.. wanna show us the link for that f-ed up bimmer?

Naughtika - I just tried re-googled what I reading last night but at the moment I can't find it.

There seems to be generally positive remarks about them, but the negative ones I read were really negative. They were causing fluctuations & null results when running diagnostics on BMWs that had the coils installed...

There wasn't any pics though. It was some Euro forum...
