My headunit started smoking yesterday so i took it out...

Only to since go and replace the headunit to find the new one gets no power what so ever. This is not the only troubling find...

My dash lights now dont work and my aircon doesnt blow out AIR!

Iv checked my fuses, loom behind headunit and so on.

Could anyone elaborate please?

Thanks

Have you checked all fuses in the engine bay and down by the drivers right knee?

First, check all fuses one at a time, both in the engine bay and behind the coin pocket. Obviously replace blown ones. If they're all intact, or you replace them and still have issues, then yes I'd call an auto sparky unless you feel confident with a multimeter ;)

If you say smoked came out then you definatly cooked or shorted something.

It could be that one thing that wasn't fused properly eg;stereo could of earthed out and if it wasn't fused the wire will glow red and burn until the connection has broken. Thus burning and shorting the rest of the wiring loom next to it.

Find out what smoked up and trace it back to find the source of the short.

Hey,

Yeah ive checked all the fuses both in the engine and cabin.

Auto sparky?

Take out and replug in your air con looms. I assumed you took them out to do the HU removal? If they are not connected PROPERLY (You need to push them in pretty hard) it will either not blow air, or intermittently blow cold air.

In terms of the dash, its been seen before here but I can't remember how to fix it. Try using search to see if you can find the resolution.

If these don't work, then its time to go to the auto sparky.
