1) What is this bolt? I found it in the storage compartment in the boot, close to the AYC pump. Its a pretty technical look bolt - perhaps its something to do with the AYC?

2) What is this dipstick for? It is located in between the battery and the air filter. ANSWERED: Auto transmission fluid

3) The air valve on my aftermarket rims doesnt have enough space around it to get a pump nozzle on them. I tried at 2 different BP's with no luck. Is there any form of adapter I can get to get around this?

4) Does the VR4 have a twin horn system? When I was under my car the other day I noticed inside the front passenger side of the bumper, 2 horn looking things. ANSWERED: is most likely the standard horn.

5) When I got my car, the fog light switch was in the ashtray compartment. Any idea how to get it back on? Ive tried just squeezing it back on, but doesnt seem to work.

6) My Legnum has a little plastic clip stuck into the carpet just infront of the drivers seat. My previous 2 lancers both had these, and i used to think they were there to plug up a hole in the carpet (but could never understand why there was a hook in the plastic clip. Is this used to hook on the floor mats so they dont move around? Does anyone else have these? ANSWERED: HOLDS THE FLOOR MAT IN PLACE

Shit dude, that valve clearance is NASTY!

You know what MIGHT work? You remember those old hand pumps you used on your bicycle when you were a kid, the ones with the screw-in rubber adapter thing? I hope you know what I'm talking about anyway  Anyway, if you had a rubber adapter thing like that, even though the connector on the service station air pump won't fit properly, they MIGHT clamp around the end of it enough to be able to force air down the small screw-in hole...

Either that or get an adapter made up somewhere - I'd try a bolt / fastener specialist to start with and see if they can recommend anyone. I don't know if you have anything like Coventry Fasteners over there?

Good luck and let us know how you get on! :)

Just go to the tyre place and get them to put longer valves in.

It might cost a bit as the will have to take the tyres off, or half off, to replace the valve.

thanks guys for the suggestions. Trevor, yeh I know what your talking about, was actually thinking the same thing. Will have to give it a shot.

Anyone know what the bolt is? Its definately the most advanced bolt Ive ever seen, Dion can attest to that, he was stumped too!

Hey Guys,

That bolt looks to me like it is supposed to hold a cable. Maybe it is for the fuel panel release?
Or maybe a bonnet release cable clamp?

Regards
Gavin

Yes it is to hold the standard mat in place.

I reckon that must be the stocko horn, mine looks the same.

And that mystery bolt could be something on the handbrake? Perhaps it was replaced and the owner thought he'd chuck it back in the car to stump a forum full of stupid aussies and kiwis..... :p
