Red AYC light on

Hi all, I have just noticed the red ayc light is on in the dash. I have checked the oil level in the rear and it is ok. There are no strange sounds coming from it but I did notice that the green bars in the dash don't seem to work anymore. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

No sound at all from the pump at the back of the car? not even for a second on startup?
How long does it take to come on. The light comes on when the pump fails to prime, or if a fuse is blown/removed (there are 2 fuses, engine bay and dash).

No, no sounds. I used to be able to hear it prime when I reversed out of the driveway. The light comes on after 30sec or so. I will check the fuses.

Checked the fuses all ok. Definitely no priming when starting up either.

Pump must be 100% fucked then I guess...

Might be able to hotwire into the pump directly to determine if it is capable of running or if it is just not getting any power. But be careful running too long as it will bypass the pressure switch.

I am not ant home at the present (about 2hrs from home). Can it cause any further damage by driving?

Just pull the fuses out and drive home. No danger will occur.

Fuses to be safe, but I'm pretty sure once that red light is on it disables it all anyway

noticed mine came on the other day while I was sitting idling for a few minutes, dove home turned the car off then back on after a few seconds and all seemed fine. Could that be a temperature thing as it was 35 or so degrees ?

that's also an indication that you may need to service it,

check your rear tires and see if tire pressures' aren't the same

i think tyre pressure might just do one bar of AYC, i think one tyre would have to be nearly completely flat for it to be red. i had a slow leak and it was on and off 1 bar when weight was on that tyre

When the pump fails to achieve the set primed pressure after about 5 secs of priming, it will deactivate and the light will come on.
If the pressure is almost there but not quite reaching it then re-starting it lets it try again to prime for a bit longer.

When you turned the car off then back on, did you drive anywhere? The pump wont try to prime and therefore the light won't come on till you start to drive off.

Check your fluid levels in the AYC reservoir, and bleed the system.

ayc would light up 3 bars then red bar.. experienced this myself

tyre pressure was ok when I checked a few days earlier, light was only on for the few minutes while idling then drive home. Hasn't come back on since
