Hi All. Can someone tell me what the GMV (gross vehical mass) is of the Legnums ?

On my rego papers it says 1600kgs.

What does your rego say ?

I'm looking into this as my rego will decrease in cost if the car weight 1505kgs or less, and I have doubts as to wether my Legnum weighs 1600kgs.

GVM is not listed on my rego papers (NSW)
However the Tare Weight is and is listed as 1570kg
GVM is not listed on RAWS paperwork either is also lists Tare Weight as 1570kg's

I got stung with that too haha! You can find out when you get a blue slip (In NSW) what the vehicle weight rating is.....

Tare Weight is the weight of the vehicle devoid of cargo or passengers, GVM is what the car can carry with passengers and luggage/cargo combined with the actual weight of the vehicle, clearly there is an anomaly if your paperwork is listing the GVM as 1600kg's.

Unfortuneatly with the legnum weighing in at 1570kg we dont qualify for a reduced weight tax...:(:(:(

Tare weight will be 1530-1590 depending on spec. GVM is just over 2000kg, I don't have the exact figure at hand sorry.

Sorry, i got a little mixed up. You are right, its the4 tare weight. Says 1612 on my rego.

ive just come across this problem...

if you can cut the weight somehow (dodgy or not) and get it weighed at a weighbridge with a printout, you can take it to someone that does blue slips and fills in some amendment form.

then take it into the rta and they will adjust it...

it works out to be a $120/yr saving if u can manage to get it in under 1505kg...

Won't the weighbridge be suspicious when you turn up with no seats, spare tyre etc?

Losing 30-100kgs from the car without looking sus is going to be one mean feat!

I might just add that the Galant just made it - 1480 kgs on the paperwork!

Yes, I often wondered why it is that the manufacturer's quoted weight doesn't match the real life recorded weight. Must have gotten lucky!

Mine is 1530kg and is supposed to be 1530kg! Interestingly though I had about 50 litres of fuel in the car. However I do have much lighter wheels, exhaust, seats, no spare wheel and a much smaller battery than stock.

So theoretically, if you were to register the car in NSW with the fuel needle near empty, you'd save a significant amount each year ...
