Replacing windscreen

Have done a few searches with no results,

Anyone had to replace their windscreen yet? Ours has a very nice crack across it from a rock, i wasnt fast enough to get it to NOVUS to repair.

I also notice it has the radio aerial in it as well.

Any help would be great

G'Day mate,

I've had to replace my front windscreen on the Legnum. I went through Windscreens O'Briens & they actually had them in stock so maybe try them for starters ?

They originally tried to patch the crack up, but they buggered it. I ended up getting a new front windscreen for $200 when at the time I think they were going for $430....this was back late last year.

I think maybe the search engine needs some expanding because i put in a number of variations of my thread title with no hits- hence my question!

Spoke ti Windscreens Obrien, unfortunately for the Legnum owners there are none in the country. I could fit a Galant screen which is what nautika is referring to in his price but the Leggys have the antenna in the top of the screen...
So either go without it or pay $930 fitted
AND as it's not a car Mitsubishi imported, they wont' fly it out so up to 3 months by bat FFS:wanker:

So i've ordered one and my insurance will cop the bill

Simon I think you'll find that either you have a special screen with the antenna in it or that your mistaken. Mel had the screen replaced on her car by O'Briens and it didn't have anything in it. The antenna is in the rear side glass.
I've just checked the paperwork and it says a Galant. Mel also said that the guy ordered the screen after checking the VIN number.

Yer i gave them the vin number, i suspected the massive $$ was due to whatever it is in the top of it, i thought it was an antenna for the stereo?

None of them have the antenna in the windscreen. Some of them do have heating elements at the bottom though.

Ok, so what are the 2 rectangular items stuck onto the top my windscreen in front of passenger and driver then?

perhaps parts from a jap satnav system or something? My white VR-4 had them too

I have four antenna thingies stuck to my windshield, two at the top and one on either side. I've recently worked out they terminate at 3.5mm mono jacks, but not sure what wavelength they're designed for yet.

You should be able to peel them off fairly easily (especially if aided with a safety blade) if you want to keep them.

Send Mel a PM and she'll get you a positive answer but I'm fairly sure she just called them. Hopefully the receipt will have a contact name, number and location. Like you we had ours done under the insurance, no questions asked and as I've just renewed the insurance on both cars with the same mob no changes in the policy.
