Hey guys

Nice to meet you all. I have been a member for a while but rarely post so I thought I should introduce myself.

I've had my FL 1999 BLK VR4 for over a year and I got it off a former member that imported two and ended up having to sell both due to work, so essentially I am first to own and drive my beautiful beast.

I am MAD about Soarers however I own a mobile DJ business (PM me if anyone needs a DJ-discount for members) which warranted a suitable car. Bought an 03 Magna Wagon as couldnt find any leggies and didnt like it because it was ugly/ordinary and I thought the turning circle was quite bad. So I stood at the Caldina/Legnum crossroad and all I can say in retrospect is I made a very good decision.

I absolutely love my leggie, and I recently decided that while there are some nice cars out at the moment I will never be able to replicate what I have in my cars without spending huge, so I plan to keep all my cars for a while.

I currently have a:

96 Soarer vvti single turbo GT-L auto
96 Soarer vvti single turbo manual black on black
91 Soarer UZZ31 V8 (Wrecking)
99 Legnum Blk, stock besides Jasma exhaust
07 Honda CBR125

In terms of my leggie, it will probably be largely stock, slowly I'll do bolt ons over time. Got the big 100kms in the next 10kms :(

Just got it serviced at Automotive Mobile Master in Wangara who look after my soarers and it feels great!
Interesting observation from my mechanic and I is that we think the legnum feels quicker than my auto vvti turbo soarer. Really didnt expect that.

A few questions:
Do you guys find the auto gear changes abit jerky from one to another ie it kicks you in the back?
Where can I get the plastic bit that always falls off the front bar? I had it saved in favourites until explorer died (no surprise there)
Is the clock flashing and not holding time a common problem?
What time do these stock do on the quarter?
If anyone is selling a factory airbox please pm me

Am very keen to take mine on the quarter and the soarer and run them next to each other in the near future.
Also would love to come on the next cruise WA boys! Please let me know.

Im not constantly on the net but looking forward to sharing the joys of this Amazing car! Thanks for reading my essay

welcome, glad to know you're loving the car..

few answers to your Q's..

1. if your auto gear changes do jerk a little, I'd have to say - check your oil level and condition, see if it had been serviced recently.. when these cars get complied at workshops sometimes they use Dextron II or III which isn't suitable for our cars..

2. the plastic piece that sits in the middle of the front bumper is called 'tow hook cover' and yes it does fall off easily if it does not have all the cips on it.. and I believe it can be ordered through Mitsubishi Oz or somewhere in Jap & NZ - Kempy's & Ralliart NZ..

3. with the clock, yes it is normal as over a period of years the solder on the connector part cracks and eventually looses connectivity with the circuit..

4. airbox? hehe fall in line bud.. alot of guys here are after the factory airbox, it shows up here and there once in a while.. pm VR4WGN I believe he can source them though..

I think you can get an auto on stock boost to do 14.2 down the quarter mile? With boost, tuning and exhaust you can knock almost a second off that.

I'll be heading down to the drags to see what I can get soon, just waiting for a tune and hoping my diff stays in one piece. Check the WA specific thread for updates on local events.

closer to 15 seconds for a stock quarter mile, mine was able to pull 15.4 in hot sticky humid weather, so maybe half a second off that in cool crisp air?

I would go and get that gear box oil replaced asap if I were you. Gear changes should be quick and smooth (most of the time at least), the wrong oil in these gear boxes can be catastrophic if left in there.

Welcome to the club mate!
As Madhav has mentioned, make sure you keep your eye on the WA thread for events.

hey, another newbie for the site here!

Got my series 2 wgn couple of months ago but didn't find this site till yesterday when looking for a replacement window ( the cheeky bugger that smashed it will get his eventually) but found this site very helpful. i'm another that would be looking for the front tow cover for mine, i've only seen one with it in place!

After not seeing any VR4's for months there are now loads in Rocky / Baldivis area, means mine doesn't stand out but shows lots of folk with taste!
