Les was a champ. Price and service was great. Let me look around while he was doing his thing. I asked him why he wasn't using the MUT for the AYC service and he explained how and why he could do it with out it.
We had a bit of a chat later about his work with the Mitsi rally team and got talking about Evo's and Vr-4's and all other cars. He mentioned that doing the rear camber mod is not a great idea... Thought that was interesting.
I didn't catch exactly what he said. But he mentioned something about the upper control arms and something about pivoting. Although, as you said using bolts of required strength, you'd think it should be fine.
But yeah he wasn't a fan of the camber mod. Next time I see him I reckon i'll ask him again and maybe pay a bit more attention. I was hungry and dying for a piss so I wasn't very attentive! hahah
I spoke to Steve Knight about doing my timing belt, and as long as I can provide the exploded diagram for the 6A13TT (from the Japanese Manual that JPNZ is translating & I've purchased) he's more than happy to do it. He'll be doing mine sometime next year. when I hit around 85-90,000kms
BOOST WORX off goodwood rd. for those interested on prices. i got a heavy duty ceramic clutch, a service done, and my coilovers pulled out for a quick checkup coz they were squeeking. car ended up being there for 3 days coz they had a little trouble waiting on the clutch to arrive and getting the cv joints out and stuff. they charged $1550 for the clutch and machined flywheel, $160 for a service, and the other $40 i guess was for looking at the suspension. they did a great job and the car is so smooth to drive. so good recomendations for them!!!.....
Both Steve (Nissy) and I have had our AYC serviced by steve. he can supply all the right fluids (did with me) and will bleed it correctly using the genuine mitsubishi MUT II tool (which he was given by mitsi japan I believe while working at Mitisi Oz)
Im off to see Steve Down at Race tech next Thursday for my Major (Timing belt, Etc)
So ill keep yall posted on $$$
Over the phone he seemed pretty sure it wasnt going to be to Expensive.
With the AYC how do u know when its time to get that serviced?
Thanks,
Cory
The AYC starts squeeling when it fires up, its time to replace the fluid. Well past it probably.
I asked Synergy about costs for major service as ill get that done in the next month or so, they new exactly what was involved, as well as being able to source the right parts, and said around $1200, how does that stack up against others?
hmm just read thru the entire thread. so sounds like ill go sus out Les Haldane. seeing is hes easier to get to at pooraka for me.
car hasnt had a service yet, and reckon its time. the car also has just over 90K kms, so duno if i should do the timing belt while at it. either way, ill give him a call 2morow and let u guys know how it goes. and how much to expect for that type of work.
i got mine done about 4 weeks ago,
cost me $2000 flat with parts at trade price.
mind you i had to get new front brake rotors and pads, tie rod ends, part of the steering rack, and an outer cv on top of the full service.
(they spent almost 2 full days on it too)
that was done at Mitsi Agostino Elizabeth. i understand that they're not a "specialist" type workshop but he was really keen to do it, he put his best mechanic on it and i have to admit he was so thorough and perceptive it was the best service i could have asked for.
previously i went to Les Haldane for a service and had to return the car 3 times for things they forgot.
i figure, no-one knows legnums specifically, so you're free to go to anyone that's keen to learn!
