Hello!

I've been lurking around these forums for a little while now just absorbing all the info there is to offer here.

I'd wanted to own an 8G VR4 since I first saw one around 2002 when I was looking for info on a 6G VR4 for sale. I wanted one bad but no SEVS listing then and every import broker I spoke to not having anything positive to say meant that it was not to be ( not to mention the cost of insurance for me then!!). So I settled on my TF Magna. Skip to now and I an finally in a position to buy a new car. I went out searching and low and behold I stumbled across ozvr4 and clubvr4 and fell in love with vr4s all over again. "What!?! You can import 8G VR4s now!??!". I decided there and then that I will own one.

The rest just took a natural course and now here I am with a 99 Galant VR4 Type S on a boat over from Japan. I hesitated posting here until I was 100% certain it was mine and on its way. BIG thanks to Kristian for this. Due to arrive on the 26 to transport to Brissy for compliance, but by the looks of the tracker it could be here a bit sooner! Now the real wait begins...

I really look forward to contributing as much as I can to the forums. Looks like I've got a few NSW neighbours and even 2 VR4 leggies lurking around Canberra, hopefully I get to meet a few of you ( and suck you dry of knowledge) even if it is at first just a "holy sheet, I need help with something" mercy call ;)

Funny thing is I haven't even got the car yet and I'm spending money on goodies. Brembos, cusco sway/stabilizer bars, bilstein/eibach suspension parts and shot load of audio gear. A Sign of things to come? :ROFLMAO:

And now for the pictures!

The other photos in a better light show the rims better to be a dull silver, I am planning to get the rims re finished to look like the Diamond Black finish of the same wheel:

Anyway, thats my little intro. Hope to hear form you all soon and please forgive the possibly stupid questions I may ask from time to time.;)

Welcome Ken, your car looks in great condition! Good buy!

Look forward to seeing how you go with those sway bars - I was looking at them myself. Did you buy front and rear? The single type or the 'K' style?

cheers

Cheers mate!

Yeah, for both front and rear. I've ordered the Cusco single type ones from RHD japan along with the cusco 4 point front lower brace. Will be interesting how they affect handling vs stock setup. I'll hopefully be able to document everything as it goes along. :)

Yep, that was me. ;) Already gotten so much quality info from ClubVR4 too! Its been great walking into/emailing dealers with part numbers and just asking for what I want and knowing more about my car then them!

Eeeep, if I get a sudden temp ban I'll know why.:ROFLMAO:

Haha. Very true :)

I guess I mean to say that owning a VR4 has motivated me a lot more then before to put large amount of research into my purchases and decisions and is making a lot more informed about all things car related in general.

Cheeers mate!

They've got me puzzled actually. The one on the right on the steering column is a Blitz turbo timer that won't be refitted after compliance. The other two... not a damn clue, GPS related maybe?

Welcome to the forums mate, been following the bilstein/eibach springs thread on ClubVR4. I'm waiting for you to get them so I know if I should get them or not :p

I bet your counting down the days till when the car arrives. Looks like an awesome pickup too! Well Done!

Welcome to the site, Ken. Fantastic looking car, and don't worry about asking questions - that's the second-best way to learn!

Ken, no idea on the first box, the second one is a toll card reader they use in Japan, similar to eTag.

Ken pull that 'Cruisemate' device off your dash and see if there's anything printed on the bottom of it (like a model number or something). Failing that, follow the cable under your dash and find out what it plugs into. The fact that it's installed on the dash like that suggests to me it's some kind of sensor...

Thank you Trevor, and thats a bit of a relief hehe. As for taking it off. I'll have to wait till I have the car first! Even then it will probably be removed for compliance anyway.

Hmmm interesting Kristian. Wouldn't be a radar detector or something similar I wonder. My google-fu is weak, I can only find mentions of cruisemate in relation to a GPS product, which is weird considering it has MMCS+antenna, and a motorcycle club hah.

Heh, ACT practically IS NSW, I could spit across the border from where I live. Never thought I'd own a purple car, but when I saw it, I thought the dark grey/purple suited the car really well. " Hey, did you hear Ken's buying a purple Magna from Japan?"
