Well, not even severe flooding could stop the VR4 last night.

160mm of rain fell here yesterday, 130 of which fell between 9:30 and 11:30PM.... When i was trying to get home!

I had many instances trying to get home last night where i had water halfway up my door!!!

The VR4 survived 2 hours of this (In my 10km drive home) and pulled through with no hassles....

Clutch was a bit slippy as were the brakes but the engine and electrics all done their job beautifully.

I did however lose a tow hook cover, bend my number plate and fill my lights with water :(

Bad things happened here last night, i'm sure NSW guys will hear about it on the news. There is people missing, cars washed away, millions of dollars property damage etc and about to storm again with the main river here peaking at 3 this afternoon. The town is already cut in half by it!!!

Poor car, i wouldn't have gotten home without you -

Cheers lads.... I tell you what, it would have to be one of the scariest things i have ever done in a car!

Twas' good for an adreneline rush

Took the car for a drive this morning and no weird noises or odd things going on and the clutch feels fine so +10 to VR4 strength and reliability :D

*edit - All my close mates and family are all safe too :)

Sorry to hear you lost the tow-hook cover mate, but glad you got home safely. Pull those headlamps off and get them draining ASAP or the water might stain or even etch the lens.

Cool :) As long as the water doesn't get up to the level of the air intake snorkel you should be ok in 90% of cars.

There were lots of cars that didn't make it haha..... 90% of which were Mitsi's

Its clearing up now and most major roads are open so you should be right :)

I'm 300km from the coast anyways and i read it wasn't nearly as bad there!

First QLD gets hit with severe weather, now we get heaps of rain and hail!

Rained on us installing my front mount today for about 10mins out in the shire.. then I get to my mates place in Ermington around 730 tonight and it hails on us and rains full heavy for a little while, flooding the street.. then cleared up, got warm, then rained for ages again lol.

Brad I think you'll find fully submerging your transmission for more than a min or so will stop most cars in their tracks, as water will come in through the breathers and flood the clutch pack :(

not to forget.. the starter motor.. hope yours will still be fine..

if not.. luckily it's easily accesible.. a rebuild shouldn't cost that much.. AFAIK the carbon brush some how loses its contact..

Yea good luck Dawso hope it's not all too bad. Was just reading online then about the big storm, with the town being cut in 2 by the flooding.

How's the situation now up there ?

Water has gone down and left us with a MOUNTAIN of mess to clean up.... I still need to find out whether my other car survived! It is in a workshop in an area that got hammered on Friday night....

*crosses fingers

The white car is fine though, still runs like a dream :).... Just missing a tow hook cover lol.... At least i'll blend in with the crowd hehe

I dried the lights out too now its stopped raining!

Oh shit. Water got past the headlights and close to the top of the bonnet bro?
Did any water get into the car?
What happened to your home man?

My place is alright..... Some got some damage but it was mainly businesses in the CBD and industrial area

No water got in the car thankfully, and as soon as it started coming over the bonnet i turned around and went back lol.... Was a bit hectic i can tell you!

The lights filled with water because i realised yesterday when i took them out to dry them that the seals around the lights are busted. Probably from the HID kit that used to be in there!

Everything on the car seems to be fine but i will be checking all the oils etc tomorrow when i can get it on the hoist :)
