Hi Everyone,

I've owned my galant just over a week now. When I bought it I noticed the stock bov was very quiet (no sound). After driving it all week I've noticed that the bov has become louder. It isn't loud but now I can hear it nearly every gear change once I hit boost.

I wanted to know is this normal or is there a possible leak? I know they tend to leak once up the boost but my car is stock.

If it isn't normal what should I check?

Cheers,

Anthony

I would say its fine; mine made a sound when discharging; but they are prone to leaking.

I guess visual inspection would be the first step? Also; you might want to do some testing; boosting multiple times to see if the boost fluctuates or stays fairly consistent.

I take the car is stock? no boost controller; so running stock boost?

Thanks for your help guys. I'll test how the boost holds on the way home tonight from work. Car is stock. No pod. I might give it a visual check once I get home as well just to double check everything is on right and tight.

Car is holding boost fine. It doesn't feel as quick any more but I think thats just because I'm getting use to it hahaha.

Thanks for your help everyone

Do you have a boost gauge? or you're noting the boost level via feel?

Something else you could do is get soapy water; wet your hand and run your hand around the bov. Just enough to lightly coat it in the solution, then have someone watch it as you rev the engine a couple of times; see if any bubbles pop.

Just by feel. I have a boost gauge that was in it along with voltage and oil temp but only the voltage gauge works. I'm yet to figure out why... There is a boost line connected and power but not working. I'm thinking about replacing them as they are a bit old school looking. Got the pod under stereo.

I might give the soapy water trick ago. Thanks

Yeah its disapointing hahaha. But I drove my lancer the other day and I was like 'where is the g-force?' haha.

I've been looking into upgrading to the 8 mr bov

Mine got progressively louder as i increased boost but not prior. Eventually it struggled to hold boost. For a $140 picked up a Drift plumb back alot more response no leaks but a lil long if your not careful you can rip the vacume hose off on gutters. The misses does it to me all the time, good way to chew fuel n confuse the cpu.

My stock bov is fair loud... In 1st it doesn't make any noise but when I lift off in every other gear it makes a decent pssssst noise. I haven't noticed any noise when spoiling up though.

My gf tells me she'll kill me if I get a VTA bov. She hates them ever since a mate got one and let it off constantly. So I think the 8 mr one will be perfect and then I can mod the car worry free!
