I've always been interested in weird and cool things from around the world..

Strange phenomenons and things like that..

I learnt about this one today while randomly stumbling stuff, Eye of Africa

It looks like an impact crater, and that the sand was fused into a glass like substance. It's damn pretty to look at, like a big jewel.

Nah it's definitely not a mine, it's 50km in diametre and from Wiki:
Initially interpreted as a meteorite impact structure because of its high degree of circularity, it is now thought to be a symmetrical uplift (circular anticline or dome) that has been laid bare by erosion. Paleozoic quartzites form the resistant beds outlining the structure. The lack of shock metamorphism at the site further backs the latter claim.
