Just curious to know has anyone has any minor or even major sunroof issues either not closing, half closing , leaking , wotever... are they a pretty solid unit? thanx in advance..

Wind deflector arm pivots can break, then the roof won't close.

you nay want to close it at like 150+km/h, otherwise can get a lil noisy

mine gets noisy at 80km/h +
Above that speed I just tilt it the other way.

I think their pretty reliable, never had any issues with mine.

I have heard of the motors sometimes struggling when the runners aren't lubricated properly but that is about it really! Never heard of them leaking.

I had one where the mechanism had seized with the roof slid half way closed/open. I had to replace the whole sunroof with another one.

The replacement would never seal correctly even though the rubber seal was in good condition, it always left a small gap at the two rear corners. When it rained the spare wheel well filled with water from the leaking sunroof. I removed the two bungs in the spare wheel well to stop the thing filling with water and sloshing around.

I purchased another complete sunroof to fit in the hope that it would sort the leaking but sold the Legnum before I got around to fitting it. Not too big a job to change but it really is a two man one at the point of removing the last nuts to remove and then install the first couple on refitting.

The original one seized due to the lube in the tubes going hard, the motor just could not move the cables in the tubes.

That experience put me off sunroofs.

yeh they get noisy at about those speeds i was talking more about the wind deflector that cant handle it up higher.

my statesman's sunroof couldnt hit 100 being open or the wind deflector would vibrate pretty violently and make a huge amount of noise. the legnums seems much much stronger (and bigger). but yes you get wind noise, was more a large knocking sound i was talking about
statesmans also leaked, rubber seals deteriorated and the area rusted.

never had any problems with the legnums sunroof, seems like a much better unit

Wow, the sunroof on my previous Legnum was awesome @ 100kph. No rattle, just heaps of air rushing in. I guess it all comes down to how well it's been maintained and lubricated. I wonder if the one's that make noise have had their mechanism's damaged in someway which results in a lose fit?

Mine was OK at 100 as well..... And I never had any dramas with it

?????

lol you guys cant read. i was saying the legnum's was good until at least 150 or higher but my old statesmans couldnt hit 100 without the wind deflector trippin balls

legnum roof is excellent, never had any problems with it and love it

does the rubber seal rub against the paint on the roof? this is a big issue for me in my honda as it creeks around every corner as the chaises twists slightly. its so bad it makes me never want a sunroof again.

im looking to import a legnum very soon and if there is any issue like this i dont want a sunroof.

Biggest issue is sunburn. I get a whistle at 80 other than that it is quiet at high speeds.

As far as i know our chassis are quite stiff no twisting even with sunroof. Had some members when taking certain angles tripoding because of it

I love the sunroof and have no issues whatsoever, at any speed. I think they are designed to leak a little. When I've taken mine through a car wash it seems to drip a little at the back corners but it seems to have a rain channel under it to carry it away. Certainly haven't had any repurcussions because of it

no rubbing, i use it every day unless its raining or over 40 and agreed, only issue is sunburn cause the things so bloody big

I've had my car at 235kmh with the sunroof open and it was very loud but no buffeting ;)

hmmm...may have to go and recheck now that my speed limiters had the snip :P
