TCL problem acceleration

Hi all,

I have been having TCL problem which i have posted about on http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41388.

Basically, the TCL off switch starts flashing and stays that way when i accelerate hard. It all resets when i start the car again. If i drive noramlly then no problem.

A member of CVR4 helped to extract the fault which showed as TCL 65: 13 H-7. Another member posted the Japanese document to it which i have reformatted in English.

Anyone got ideas on what this all means?

Sounds like a throttle position sensor issue to me....

This might help you expidite Dawso's suggestion.... a cut down version to be used in the upcoming VR4-WIKI


Diagnostic codes allow us to see any errors the ECU has logged without connecting up an MUT-II diagnostic computer or a laptop with EVO Scan. All you need is a paper clip or similar piece of conductive wire, follow the procedure below to put the car in diagnostic mode, and then check the error codes you see against the list provided. If you have questions or need further assistance, follow the link at the bottom of the article to go to the appropriate forum thread for discussion.

Diagnostic Connector / OBDII port

With the iginition on, but engine NOT running - ground Pin 1 to Pin 4 of the diagnostic/OBDII Port (using a bit of wire or paper clip) which is located by your left knee up under the dash. You will then get the engine light, N of the trans, ABS, TCL and ASC (if you have them) flashing.

To read the codes it will be a series of long then short flashes, ie the TCL light flashing _ _ _ _ *pause*. . . . . indicates code 45 (if you get what I mean) There will be a very long pause between each code if you have more than one error code.

The connector looks this shape, and this is the pin configuration:

When you see (for example 1A) error codes with numbers and letters, these are HEXADECIMAL values. We count in groups of "10" (Base 10) whereas electronic components tend to count in lots of "16" (Base 16), otherwise known as HEXADECIMAL.
