I'm looking at a set of TEIN GT-Wagon Dampers but I'm curious if by default they will make the car lower ?

I'm after a good suspension kit, but I can NOT let the car get any lower than what it is. I can barely get in & out of the garage as it is...

are you looking at the whole coilover kit? if so, they are adjustable... however you might need to find the exact model and see whether they are adjustable from the stock height and lower, or from say 30mm lower, and further lower.

i know with my coilovers, the rears are lowered about 20-30mm at the highest setting.

haha, i'm bored, and spend way too much time fiddling with cars! :p

i just looked at those on RHD, and i'm trying to chase down some specs on them as we speak..

ok, the GT wagon coilovers have the following height ranges...

Ft: -91 - +7
Rr: -96 - +30

so you can actually raise the car 7mm higher at the front, and 30mm higher at the rear!

that will allow you to keep your stock height, and have a good suspension setup too. :)

not a problem!

i was surprised you could raise it.. usually its stock height and down, or less than stock and down.

What sort of spring rates are these with (and valving to match i presume)?? Reason I ask is because most jap coilovers for the skyline for example are WAY to hard for Australian Rds.

Just found my own answer, 8kg front, 5kg rear... that seems a little stiff to me!

Perhaps superwagon would be better? 5kg (f), 3kg(r). only downside is height (For king panther)
-16 to -56 (f)
-12 to -50 (r)
Still has the adjustable damping too.

King: Even though damping is adjustable, with spring rates that high you'll find its a very stiff and bump ride. Most stock springs are about 3kg front, 2kg rear, so your looking at almost 3x the stiffness!! most lowered springs (Eibach, Whiteline etc) you buy are only about 30% stiffer than stock springs and they can sometimes be firm.

From what I've read super wagons are the way to go unless you plan to do a lot of track work due to the hard springs.

Hawks has super wagons on his and says they are great. I'm not sure what height setting he has them on but whatever it is it look perfect :)

Yea I saw Hawks' car at the NSW meet last Saturday.

That was actually the basis for my question. His car is WAY too low for me as I'd never get it out of the garage.

So I was wondering whether I can still get the TEINs but keep my ride height unchanged, or in fact go higher slightly.

GT wagon coilovers
8kg (F), 5kg (R)
Front -91 - +7
Rear -96 - +30

superwagon coilovers
5kg (F), 3kg(R)
Front -16 to -56
Rear -12 to -50

So it comes down to GT's have more height adjustments but the ride is harder,
and Superwagons have less hight adjustments, are lower than standard but ride is not as hard.
What is the price difference?
with people that have kids/babys on board would the GT's be too hard?

Yea it looks like GT-Wagon is for me ..

.... though ....

if the suspension is THAT hard, does it have any flow-on effect on causing damage or extra wear on the wheels & tyres ? I mean, if the suspension is rock hard & you go over a bump or something, does the suspension take the force or does the wheel/tyre ?

I have the Super Wagons in my car and they are the ones to go for.

The GT Wagons are the next step up but are not needed for the street.

There would be quite a price difference too I'd imagine.

Mark,

According to www.rhdjapan.com there's about $200 difference between them.

The ability to jack my car higher really leans me towards the GTs.

I love your car mate & the suspension is awesome, but just impractical for me ;)

I haven't started about my parent's driveway yet, or my fiance's uncle hehe...

No worries, I thought it was more $$$ than that. The Tein shocks are sweet and you will love 'em.
