Anything you hate about your job?

I'm sitting here at homesglen mcdonalds on warrigal rd, and have been since 6:30 am, it's currently 8:45, waiting for concrete to arrive at 9:30, so I can pour 4 square metres of slab for an extension in their drive-thru. I hate waiting! Especially when I've only got about half an hours work to do! Grrrr!!:cursing:

Kick back and have a coffee while you wait! ... and perhaps a hash brown? :)

Could think of much worse places to be waiting smitty!

However - one thing I hate about my job is that I don't travel often, but when I do its to middle of f**n nowhere and staying in shitty 50+ year old motels with shitty restaurants. NEVER do I get to go to nice city's and stay 5* like the execs in our company... *sigh*

Having to fix up our other yards mistakes...

Yesterday had to pick up and deliver over a ton of concrete cladding, all in 70kg boxes...

great fun...

Occasional 120 hour weeks ...

Travelling over 1.5hrs just to get to the office. Then the same to get back home.
That's a normal day.

Next week I'll be off to Cowra.
Still beats going to Sydney.

Man the grass really IS greener on the other side, coz the things that annoy me about my job are as follows:
* Not getting to wait for stuff at a Maccas drive thru (mmmmm bacon aaaaaarghkarajgrjlajakjkgr)
* Not getting to travel that far to work (only takes me 10 minutes, and the Leggy's just starting to warm up at this point)
* not getting to travel ANYWHERE for work, cept down to the loading dock or something (which you cant drive to, nor can you claim travel allowance -well the fat guy in the three wheeler does, but THAT's another story)
* Not being allowed to carry bags of concrete! So I work for an IT company, and so it is in direct violation to like100 OH&S codes but still, if a man wants to carry some concrete, a man should be entitled to yeah>?!?!?

But apart from that...MY JOB ROCKS! Why? ...well Im here now aren't I?!(y)

4am finishes.. im nocturnal now
developed bat like sonar and everything

internet explorer 6 - im the poor sod that has to make the web work in this useless browser.

ROFL @ the OH&S comment dude, you'd go far in a trade haha! Long live the Worksafe-certified bucket-for-a-step-ladder!

Don't get me wrong guys, i really do appreciate that it's a maccas i have to wait at(every time we do an extension to a McDonalds we get half-price food), its the fact that i had to wait almost three hours for shit to get there, only for me to do an hour or so's work and then piss off home!

It happens a lot in my job, we're sitting onsite, in the elements, waiting for material to get there. A three to five hour day often gets doubled because some pen-pusher cbf processing a delivery order.

I'm happy to do a long day on a big job, but not when it's unnecessary, is all!

And that concludes my whinge:)

Users who expect me to explain how Rsync and crontabs work on a NFS Kerborised share... when they have trouble opening and using their email client or accessing the intranet homepage.

hmm...

Working in sales with customers who ask questions they don't understand the questions to and colleagues who know so little about what we sell typically any time they get a "too hard" question they palm it off onto me, but only in a small number of these instances do they actually stick around to find out what the answer is.

I'm liking mine at the moment. Sits comfortably with my view of society.

So does it reinforce your view? Provide counterpoint? And in a way that makes you optimistic, or a way that makes you cynical? Or both?

Smelly poopy nappies.
11ty billion decibel screams directly into my ear.
Food going anywhere but the mouth.
Brain dribbling out of my ears from ABC2 all day.

But it's all balanced out by things like this morning when I'm woken up to pats on the face and a big loving smile from her.

Being Mr. Mum is great :)

in condensed form:

im a 2nd year apprentice chippy working for a NON UNION commercial mob taking full advantage of the government funding injection into schools. now to get the jobs, theyve strung the budgets soooo tightly that there is virtually zero money for the foreman to play with for things such as hiring labourers or getting other materials etc etc

this where im basically (excuse the french) getting ****ed over. im being stooged for cheap labour, not learning anything, busting my balls to literal exhaustion, another foreman calls up the foreman on the job im usually at when he wants a site clean up to get me to do it.

its bullshit, not getting paid appropriately for the work i do. last time i checked i was an apprentice not a labourer.

end rant
