Thoughts please 2.25" with 2.5" hose

Hi all, just after a few opinions in relation to intercooler hose sizes. If the intercooler in/out is 2.25" but I have 2.5" hose, will this matter if done up with correct t-bolts??

huh?

are you saying your intercooler piping is 2.5" but your FMIC inlet and outlets are 2.25"? if yes, then buy a reducer

or are you asking if you can use 2.5" silicone on a 2.25" pipe? if so, NO, wont work. go buy some 2.25" silicone

Would using an intercooler with smaller pipes create a restriction? I'm thinking about buying an intercooler with 3" in/out to open it up a bit, or am I better off just getting same size as factory?

imho, your better off getting a larger diameter cooler and using some expanders then tryin to do it the otherway round


but if you can get a 2.5" inlet/outlet for the same price as a 3", just go with the 2.5"

No point have 3" on just the cooler imo. If you can get a cooler with 2.5" in and out you will save money on silicon too. Reducers cost a lot more than straight connectors.

Looking at the price of silicone joiners and reducers there is almost no difference, so I think I will get 3" in/out in case I ever upgrade to larger piping
