Hey People

Looks like I am off OS for a few months this year and i am putting the car into storage. just wondering if i unplug the battery to stop the alarm draining it then it going off two weeks after leaving. will it hurt the ecu.... and whatever if it is left un hooked for 8 months

thanks

Daniel

It won't do anything to your ECU, it will run a lil Rich for a few tanks till the ECU re-learns, but thats really about it, From mem you don't have a piggy back Danial so theres no issues there.

Depending on the condition of your battery prior to dis-connection its even possible that will have sufficient charge to start the car on your return...

So where are you off to Dan???

Just do it. I leave mine off when I don't drive it for 2 weeks lol

If you have an alarm with a battery backup you should use the alarm key to disarm it before removing the battery, otherwise disconnection will set off your alarm and / or drain the alarm's battery.

Yeah your correct there trev. Tried playing with a loose terminal before and the alarm kept sounding. So alarm off, battery off. Thanks.

Kat - I am off to Europe for about 8 months. As you may remember I race bicycles, well it looks like I have a contract to ride in Italy for awhile, this should also take me to France and Switzerland aswell. Stll have not signed or booked flights so it could still all fall apart. Next week I get full details of the contract - make my decision then.

Thats great news Daniel, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed till we hear its all in place....

Damn, was sort of hoping it was a Middle East location..... was going to rib you with a "wearing that sexy turban" line.....:p:laugh:

It is a great opportunity, this will be my third year. My first year was in holland and Belgium. One or two trips to France aswell. I have so much to organise in so little time - they have given me 5 weeks to get there! Eek!!

Sorry kat no turbans this time, but feel free to comment on steins, liederhous?, clogs, cuckoo clocks and Swiss chocolate, cows with bells and pizza....

Hey Daniel, you can hook a trickle charger to your battery so you won't have to disconnect your battery and it will be fully charged when you get back from Europe.

I use one of these on my jetski and they use bugger all electricity.

Hey Dan - bring this guy home, will ya?? LOL
