Guys,

Does anyone know if my front underbody brace on the PFL galant is a factory item or is it aftermarket? The reason I ask is that when I changed the LCA I had to remove it. The problem I have now is noticeable vibration at idle and on start an stop and I think it's because the underbody brace is contacting the sump in a couple of areas. I don't know why it would be any different after replacing the LCA's.
How important is this brace and is it factory? Anyone had this after replaceing their control arms?

Thanks

Underbody brace is not factory...well all it does is tighten up the chassis so the car feels more rigid and firm through corners (lay mans explanation)...with just the front underbrace (assuming your car does not have any other type of bracing) it not gonna make a big difference..

To answer your second question..I had a cusco underbrace and no vibrations at all...remove the underbrace and see if the vibrations disappear...but whats weird is that u were not getting any vibrations before you changed the LCA's...maybe the brace was not tightened correctly or something...maybe someone else can shed some light...

Why did u out it on if it's touching the sump?

I took off the brace. Best thing I did as there is no more noise/vibration. The Galant has a bit more flex to it which I don't think is such a bad thing. It's handling is actually improved. Not sure why the brace was touching eng block as it never use to. Thanks for your comments.

Was it a V1 or V2 Cusco brace , the latter didn't play nice with my front pipes in this regard

Not sure what brace it is. It's red though and very light.
