Has anyone upgraded their AYC diff to the S-AYC diff from the Evo 8?

I know that it's pretty much a direct fit with a few small mods, but whats needed in terms of wiring/pump? Do I need to installed the S-AYC ECU and wiring harnesses and is the existing AYC pump suffcient?

Just interested as I may be able to get my hands on a S-AYC diff, but want to know if its gonna be more grief then it's worth.

I believe this has done a few times before. Steve from TME can probably guide you.

KaldekBoch (Ed) has a video on the topic on YouTube (Kaldek on OZVR4)

See: Physical differences between AYC and Super AYC differentials - YouTube

Love KaldekBoch's videos, have helped me alot. I'll have to see if I can get some info from either of them.

I'm in no rush to do it, but figured since there is one for sale near me (guy is asking $700) thought it might be worth picking up for a future project. But i guess I'll also need to find out what to look for on the diff itself, don't want to buy one that's just going to die on me.

No changes to ecu. Straight swap once you make a hole for the relocated fill point.
You will need some kind of tool for flushing and bleeding, but same is required for replacing with stock legnum diff.

(definitely $700 is a good price, confirm it's actually a sayc and in good condition though)

Thanks! apprciate in the info. Glad its as simple as a straight swap and not having to run a new harness etc.

I think I'll go check it out and determine the condition.

Guy just sent a picture of diff. Is there anything I should look out in particular for condition?

He said its's from a 2014 Evo 8, low KMs (but everyone always says low kms)

Nevermind was a different diff, similar pics, ignore me...

Ah no worries. Was going to say, he has the rest of the Evo 8 which he's wreaking, so I'd be pretty surprise if it was off ebay!

This is what to look for to know it's an sayc.
They moved the fill point but left the old casting for the old location.
I.e. SAYC will have these 2 circles here

Ah cool, it's defs is a S-AYC. Was more wondering what to look for in terms of condition, but I guess you can't see much without taking it apart?
