Does anyone else's upper control arms rattle? my driver side is really starting to do my head in. It's out of control the amount of noise it puts out. There appears to be no bushes required in the shaft assembly (2 fat bolts that mount to the chassis) and I think is these that are the problem but they don't look worn, and the nuts are tight enough. Any ideas on fixing this or should I just replace the lot.

its probably the ball joint becoming loose.. losing its grease inside, therefore creating friction...

suggest you replace it soon.. i would if i was in the same situation..

Can you describe the rattle for me?? I've been getting a rattle which I thought was engine mounts, but inspected them and they look fine. The rattle is generally after turning right (but not always) and once the wheel is straight and I hit 50kph-60kph its there. If I accelerate above this speed, it goes away, lower speed, it goes away. To me the sound is sort of like marbles in a milo tin being rolled around - Its doing my head in :(

Lee, its just a rattling sound that can be very lound over uneven surfaces. I drive down a long paved road to my office and the sound really pisses me off. I jacked up the car and hit the tire hard with my hand and you can just hear where it is coming from. It actualy sounds more like the 2 mounts in the chassis than the ball joint but it is hard to tell.

Not sure if this is the place to post it but oh well....

I found my rattle !! - The dipshit's who did the trans changover stuffed up with the rear driveshaft. Where the rear driveshaft inputs into the transfer case there is a 2 piece dust cover - well they left the inner cover loose didnt they!?! SO it been rattling around under there on and off as it got stuck/unstuck to the outer cover. Got some loctite onto it, and its quiet now. If it comes loose again, will have to remove the tailshaft and fix it properly.

Oh, and I found the main North-South cross member under the engine had been bashed up against the underside of the trans at some stage, so that was removed and straightened too. So no more rattles for me, YAY! :)

looks right to me - to be 100% sure check the part number (email them asking for it) and check it to yours. if its not a match, still could fit (as my lower control arms did) just visually match. i dont know if anyone has done the uppers yet, but im 90% sure that looks like the same pair as what is on the car
