Hey peeps of NSW, not sure if I'm posting in the right section but I've done a search on vehicle valuations and couldn't find anything for what I need..

I'm in the process in purchasing a legnum in NSW. I've taken out a secured loan (I do not indend on changing to unsecured) for this, and need to get a valuation on the vehicle.

Does anybody know is the NRMA do these? The MTA doesn't, I have already tried contacting them. Or do you know of any licenced companies which can do one.

Here in SA the RAA include them in their vehicle inspections, so I'm hoping the NRMA might too.

I can't get one from an online source such as Red Book, it needs to be done in person, and from a licenced valuator.

Any help would be greatful, although I do not wish advice to change to an unsecure loan as this is not an option for me.

Thank you,
Dave.

What proof of value do you need, like a written form signed and sealed by someone who does valuations?

Bascily yeah,
I spoke to the bank again and they said it can't be from a car yard or from a mechanic. It has to be from a valuator.
As I said, The RAA here in Adelaide does Vehicle Valuations, but the car I intend to purchace is in NSW. So I need a company there which can do it.

I can't speak for everyone here, but i approached a number of financial institutions and no one would do a secured loan as our vehicles are not on Aussie Bank or financial institutions computer system which = no value to them. This i rekon is total BS but i went through about 5 or more till i gave in and just loaned 20 thou unsecured.

Yes, they're not which is why you need to get somebody to value it for them.

I just found out that the NRMA do a CarWise check which includes a vehicle valuation :)

Thank you for your help guys.

Yes Dave I believe part of your problem is you're trying to get a secured loan. That's going to be a total bitch to get as our cars are not the type to attract secured loans.

I've got unsecured loans for both my Legnums & never had any trouble getting finance.

Perhaps if you bit the bullet & changed to unsecured, your finance will come through much quicker & with less hassle. I myself cannot find someone who does valuations either.....

NRMA also don't want to touch imports either. I'd confirm with them that the car you want valued is a Japanses grey import & that they'll do it firstly....

Sounds like a total screw around either way. I'd just tell the bank to look at carsales.com.au and go from there, but I'm not the one looking to borrow cash :D

God I hate banks...

Speak with Shannons. If they can't do it, they'll be able to direct you to someone who can. How much are you saving over getting an unsecured loan? Cos a valuation might not come cheap.

Give me 5min and the cost of a stamp, and you can have whatever you like on it lol. In all serious, ask them if I'd be suitable.

Shannons will do valuations. I have my 4WD insured through them for $30,000, they said if I wanted to insure it for $35,000 that I send in some pictures of the car, plus I missed an valuation day at the local Autobarn. Also, Bella's Leggy is insured through Shannons for $20,000 and that was over the phone without them seeing it in person. IThis was the the agreed value, with a $837 premium. She tried NRMA, and they were alot dearer, I think they were over the $1,000 mark. Try Shannons again, be sure you say you're a car entusiast and that your car will be garaged. They are very friendly, and you can pay them in monthly instalments too.
