The front passenger foot well of my car is sodden with water. Any ideas where the water might be coming from? It has been raining pretty heavily lately and the car is not garaged. I did not drive it through any standing water. Pretty sure all the windows have been kept shut. Car does not have a sun roof or roof rack. The door seals don't look like they've perished or anything.

Car is a 1999 facelift Legnum VR-4 type S.

You know, I'm having an issue with a small amount of water coming in the drivers footwell when I'm either driving in the wet, or having just washed the car.

I'm going to get a spot light and sit it in the engine bay pointing @ the firewall, then get in and have a look from up under the dash and see if and where any light is coming in.

With my leak, I'm fairly sure its where I drilled through the firewall to install my gauges, but its just a guess.

Good luck!

Is it only when it rains? Does the fluid smell? Reason I ask is it may be heater-box has shit itself and its coolant leaking in on your feet.

There is a loom that goes through just behind the LH kick panel on the LHS of the passenger foot well isn't there?

Maybe try pulling off the plasic and check all the rubber boots are sound.

It'll be your A/C thats the problem, no biggie, just that the condenser drain pipe is probably blocked. The condenser is located on the passenger side underneath where the airbag is in the dash. When you have the A/C on condensation forms on the condenser (imagine that ) and this condensation collects in a tray and drains out through a rubber pipe through the firewall onto the ground outside. When this pipe is blocked the catch tray fills up and overflows into the passenger footwell.

So its an easy fix, you just need to get into the engine bay, reach about halfway down the firewall on the passengers side, feel around for a small rubber pipe and squeeze it. Because its a ducks bill type outlet, the two flaps sometimes stick together to create a blockage. Worst case is you'll need to stick something up there to clear it out if its really blocked. If you've just been running the A/C for a while you should feel a fair bit of ice cold water start to come running out.

I had this problem with mine when I first got it, and after having the A/C on for a while it started to fill up the passenger footwell really quickly. Because I don't have a passenger in the car that often, the way I first noticed it was when taking a left hand corner reasonably fast, the ice cold water would splash across to the drivers side and land on my feet instead of dripping into the passenger footwell. <-- Gives you a little shock the first time it happens.

Thanks. That's good advice. I will have to check that out.
