Epic Winning with my Gopro!

So I went to buy some Gopro accesories, I was mainly chasing a POV pole to use while snorkelling tomorrow at some falls.
Long story short, everywhere was sold out after xmas, and the 1 pole I could find was $99.99 and only extended from 12" to 36"..
I thought.. F**K that, and with a few beers under my belt, got a lift to bunnings, spent $9.00 on supplies and knocked this up when I got home.

***Features Include***
-Aluminium Extending pole, 3 sections which can extend and lock seperately, from 500mm to 1.4m.
- 'Safety Lanyard' (nylon cord attaching the handle to your wrist with a slipknot) to keep camera safe when dropped.
- 3 Point Camera retention system incase of malfunction. (more Nylon cord lanyard from camera case to the pole incase my dodgy work comes undone)
- Camera mount allows 320 degree range of movement
- Satisfaction from making something yourself AND saving $92.99

Instructions.
1.Buy extending Squeegee from Bunnings broom isle for $7.00
2.Disassemble head by removing 4 screws
3.Grab that black square thing that held the camera in the box when you bought your gopro.
4. Heat it up with a blowtorch and cut it to size with a pair or kitchen scissors
5. Drill two holes in it and mount it to the squeegee head with the screws you removed from it. Screws straight into existing holes.
6. Cut excess edges off the squeegee head.
7. Remove squeegee head, empty $1.00 tube of superglue inside, Screw it back on to the pole.
8. Add 2 cable ties tight as F**K for extra security.
9. ENJOY!!

Enjoy.

Are the cheap knock off 'sports cameras' any good?
I've been wanting to get a GoPro for ages but can't justify $400+ on a once/twice a year toy.

It'll more than likely be used for the very occasional motor khana, or if I go for an enduro ride on the XR (or as a crash cam if I end up dailying the bike)

Yes, the Aldi action cameras are fantastic when you can get them, maybe not as a crash cam since they dont have the sort of auto on features you would want, but neither do gopros, dont have a suction cup mount so u have to sort your own thing out, i strapped mine to a navman mount :D, but the footage was upside down, so a 3 axis mount would be better.

My little brother used one strapped to a hat (and various poles at times) for a full 4month marlin season up north and they survived well with some great footage, so they are definitely tough.

They only hold about 4-5 hours on a 32gb card (max size) tho, so its good to have a computer on hand, but I dont know how go-pros go in that sense.
