*Its Official* Galant Owner No more

Well peoples. I might not be a Galant owner for much longer.

At 3pm today my work mates came down to my desk and informed me that my car had been in an accident. A car plowed into the rear quater panel doing 60km/h and the damage is bad. The whole drivers rear quater panel has disintegrated, the rear bumper is no more, the passanger skirt is scratched, the passanger mags are scratched, the front passanger wheel is sporting negative positive camber and to top it all of the chasis is bent like a bananna.

It looks like th guy might have had a mild heart attack and veared across 2 lanes of traffic and into my parked car.

Everyone says that it was lucky no one was hurt. But i tell you what rigth now i feel pretty dead inside. She was my pride and joy, she was my baby, i had only had her 1 month and i had already washed her 2. Ive been looking for a car for 7 years and i finally find the one that ticks all the boxes and i only get 1 months enjoyment out of her.

She looks like she might be a right off, and to find another Facelift with recaro seats, momo stearing wheel, tein coilovers, ralliart muffler in manual and black is going to be next to impossible.

Gutted man sorry to hear that, its bad enough when you crash a car but for something like that to happens its got to hurt because you had nothing to do with it.
You will find one that is just as good as it someday..

that sucks, make sure you keep possesion of the car, and make sure they pay you for it at the best value. Also make sure you get all the good stuff, like the recaro's and what not

Oh crap Brock! Really sorry to hear that!

I second what the others say about keeping possession of it.

Maybe you could buy Anthony's Legnum as a fill in until you find another Galant

cheers

Oh. My. God. Mate, my heart really goes out to you... after all that searching and the like. Also, I do hope the other driver is OK, I really do.

I hope you're able to get possession of your car back at least and be able to save what you can for the next Galant. Mitchy went through the same thing (eerily similar actually with the damage) with his R33 Skyline but it's also another way of knowing the whole car backwards.

All the best mate.

i know exactly how you feel brocky,

as dead as you may feel, just be glad you werent in the car at the time.
my R33 was hit from behind at ~90km/h, whilst i was waiting to turn into the road my girlfriends work was in.

i had spent 3 years worth of time and money on that car, and it was destroyed by one fool.

i say buy the car back, strip what you want, and sell the rest.

hopefully you find something better, or at least turn your new car into something better, because as much as i wish i still had my R33, i know i bought something better!

edit: it seems gav beat me to my own story, but it is DEFINATELY a god way of knowing your car back to front... i can tell you want size screws holds the rear subframe in, and what colour the wires are for the rear wiper motor. :p

I know she was your pride and joy.. and I admired the car alot.. it was in perfect condition.. at least you managed to show us OzVr4 members your car.. but still that doesn't help.. I hope you find a new one soon and hopefully in the same condition and features..

few questions...

are you insured?

Brock that really freaken sucks man, I'm sooo sorry to hear that... I feel like spending the night with mine just to make sure its safe thoughout the night now!!

Good luck with it dude, I hope you get a good deal with the insurance company so you can strip it back - you already have recaros, so that's half the battle!

 our first fatality?

Horrible horrible news. Listen to these guys man, they speak the truth. Cars do come and go, it's just so annoying that it was so damn quick for you...

Chin up though bro, There is another one waiting somewhere with your name on it already.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and im glad there are so many people that think the same way i do, that the car wasnt just transport from A to B it was a dream come true.

The car is insured but thats only half the battle, first the insurance company has to work out if its viable to repair the car and then we go from there.

Buying it back off the insurance company is definatly an option. Im going to keep an eye on Iron Chef Imports and any other importers i can find. I think its all going to come down to whether i can find a sutible replacement for the same kind of price.

i can't add anymore than what's been said, i'm guessing the heart attack victim died?

By the sounds of it, she's a write-off

You'll remember me saying last saturday, that i loved those Recaro's!!!

If i can help with something, just ask.

Thanks mate. I havent heard back from the cops, but when the other driver left in the back of the ambo he was still alive. I know it wasnt really his fault but i would really love to thump him a couple of times.

Im not sure if its in the budget to buy back the galant, but if i cant i will definatly open it up to anyone here.

And a wright off is my worst fear, because if i decided i want another vr4 its going to take a while to get it, leaving me without a car. Fortunately though i can borrow one off my folks until i get my own.
