Cheers guys - no tripod! Heard the popping so grabbed the 40D + 70-200 and clambered up onto the shed roof and braced the camera on the top. Hence the wiggles. Thought it worked really well. All of them were 5s exposures at 93mm.

I actually didn't end up using these photos, the quality wasn't quite as high as I had hoped. I just googled fireworks 1920x1200 and found lots of results

I know that site looks a bit dodgy but I didn't get any popups at all which really surprised me!

Might try playing around with higher-than-85% JPEG compression, there's some light bleed/glow in the RAW but it doesn't look anywhere near as bad.
