Hello from New Zealand!

I'm Phillip and form Dunedin in the south island of New Zealand and I've been looking for a legnum for some time I've came across one that I'm interested in looking at.
I've been wondering about the key issue, would any key barrel from any auto galant/legnum fit and work or do the the keys have some kind of immobilizer/transponder that would prevent the car from starting? Just want to be sure it's an easy fix.

Hello Phillip, welcome aboard.

Not exactly sure about the key issue. Mine came with an aftermarket immobiliser and separate fob, and I can use a plain metal key. But some people seem to need the factory key.

Thanks, its getting an inspection done this week and if thats all good should be going on a road trip sunday to go view/ buy it.

No immobiliser code in the ecu and no transponder key.

Well inspections been done, nothing wrong aside from a minor oil leak and a worn left engine mount. I've had one priced up at $100 if its the most expensive mount or $60 for the cheapest. How easily can they be acsessed and replaced?

do you mean drivers side or passenger side? contact bill, he can get them cheap. or just ask for a bush and get it pressed out and new one pressed in

Most likley passengers side, I haven't seen the car yet just going off a check list that says left.

That looks like a quite tidy car, so pretty good price for the condtion and km. Too bad about the two issues there but they shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

And I brought it! Not bad for $2200 I reckon, handled the 3 hour drive home perfectly. Expect a post in the members rides section soon!

$2200! That's a pretty good price! What are your plans for it? Going to fix up the paint?

Plans are to just change fluids for now and sort out a new front bumper and paint at some point in the next couple of months. I plan to install an EBC, front mount and exhaust at some point
