Hey guys
bought my new little project a few weeks ago. Super keen to be doing it up a bit and finally have a reliable car, been working on it already but having some trouble with it

lifters had a tick so I’ve replaced them with ones from meek, only to make it so much worse

When I got it there was 2 or 3 ticks when cold but faded when warm, I decided to replace them but now I have 2 very loud constant ticks that won’t go away. I’ve checked oil pressure, all bolts are to the correct torque, changed the oil, and I’ve tried revving it to 3grand over the 15 seconds, I did this a few times but the sound only got worse. I only did it about 10 times in fear I would do damage

I’ve looked for hours but can’t find anyone who is having the same problem, if someone could help me out or link me to a thread that can help that would be great!

Look forward to getting to know everyone
Cheers, Tristan

Did you bleed the lifters before you put them in?

bucket of oil (preferibly the same oil your using in your engine) squeez them heaps to bleed any air out.

Also once you fix the lifter tick you will start noticing the tick of the injectors lol

Also did you make sure while you had it all apart to clean out the oil galleries?
As they can get quiet clogged up.

Hey mattalot

No unfortunately I was told by a mechanic not to bother bleed them, that they would sort them selves out, think I might have to rip them all out again and do it

not too worrried about the injector tick, anything has to be better then this haha

yeah cleaned everything out and put an engine flush in the oil to get all the little bits I couldn’t get too

Is there anything else I can try before pulling everything apart again?

Well the mechanic is a bit of a idiot tbh

Yeah sure MAYBE they might sort them selves out, but could take ages and no guarantee they will.
Also cause they're not oiled properly they could damage them selves...

Your best bet man, unfortunately is to rip them out, check them and bleed them.

:) ! Welcome To OzVR4 ! :)

Sorry to hear about the lifter, I kinda hear the same about just putting them in without bleeding them, but if I was to ever install them I'd most likely would have bleed them (incase) hopefully the two your talking about making the noise are in the front head.
