Hey guys,

So I've tried some searches, but haven't seemed to find any info on this topic.

What can we do to renew the gas struts on the tailgates of our cars?

The engraving on the struts is 2HA15 MK51. Googling = nothing.

Are there any direct replacements, or can these things be serviced/refurbished?

Wes =)

I need to replace mine soon as well, they're quite soft. I was going to take one into Stabilus and see if I could find one that matches up. I'll let you know what I find.

Sweet, I've emailed several companies as well. I have the initiative to replace them after totally axing my head against the edge of the tailgate the other night! LOL

This is my research so far:
- Mitsubishi say part numbers do not match any other Mitsubishi vehicles, no part is in the country
- You can get struts regased for $66 (plenty of companies in the yellow pages), which is looking most likly the way to go.

For your information guys, Bill at Ralliart NZ quoted me $144 each, ordered from Japan.

Here are the part numbers for facelifts.

MR473427 GAS SPRING,TAILGATE,LH
MR473428 GAS SPRING,TAILGATE,RH

Peter has listed the pre-facelift part numbers below.

I bought some aftermarket gas struts for just ~65USD, here in germany.

Really? $65US each or for both? Genuine Mitsubishi?

Yes, apologies for missing that keyword.

The questions to be asked here is:
- What brand?
- From where?
- Aftermarket brand Part no?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but it seemed the most appropriate place to add this - I got a quote from a guy on Friday to re-gas my tailgate struts for $55/pair. I'm going to take the struts for my wife's car down there when I get them done (as soon as I've fixed my engine mounts).

GSR Enterprises in Coogee, also called Struts WA. The contact number is a mobile, and the listed street address is his home address, so I think he's just a small business/sole trader with a van, but if he can do the job then that doesn't bother me in the slightest. There's a strut specialist in Osborne Park that told me flat out it couldn't be done, but then they also told me it wouldn't be possible to install underbonnet struts either, yet I've had those for quite some time now...

Once I've had them done I'll let you know how it went :-)
