Get it rebuilt with evo internals.
Evo 1st 2nd and 5th would usually be considered better (all taller)
Now that seems like a nice idea. A taller 5th gear alone would be nice for freeway cruising,If you're near us and it only needs parts we have in stock, we'd have it fixed in under a day once we had the box in our hands. Problem is if it's not parts we have in stock you're stuffed for a few weeks.

Not really, he lost 3rd but may have considered changing ratios seeing it was brought up early in the post.Personally only interested in the lower gears myself but getting off the OPs topic now aren't we ;-)
Search for all the good tips but definitely input shaft bearings. Rear main seal if it hasn't been done recently while you have access.
