Messed up headlight globes, WTF?

My headlights are having an identity crisis, they have H1 globes (with plastic adaptors) for lowbeams and H1 globes (also with plastic adaptors) for highbeams as well, the headlight globe replacement thread says we have H7's for lowbeams so on the weekend I got a set of H7's and although they fit the globe holder the little spring wire doesn't hold them in properly and on top of that the harness doesn't clip on the globe as the spades are too close together....WTF is going on???

The H7s plug into an adaptor thingy nearly identical to the one shown for your H1s, I had a similar problem when retro fitting H7s into my car.

you've got the wrong adaptor for the low beam...

low beam's got this black adaptor.

So is there no direct fit globes for our cars? are the black H7 adaptors available anywhere?
