I play on the aperture games private server.

there is an application thread on the forums if you want to come on.
It's the definition for what a sandbox game is.
You can build what you want, the world is completely randomly generated.
Exploring, building, farming, hunting.
It's basically got something for everyone. I have been addicted for 4 weeks or so now!

Church is in the same medieval zone as the castle in the video
Tempted to give it a shot but fear my life may fall by the wayside while constructing things 
The cube stylings and 8 bit palette are most excellent. I hope to last the weekend without having installed this, otherwise this may be my last post for a while

Haha oh lord. Once I finish my degree I can see myself playing this shit endlessly... Someone told me that you use certain items and compounds to create other stuff like glass or metals or whatever? Sounds like it gets pretty complicated lol.
Correct, you use resources in certain patterns and volumes to create objects via a crafting grid. The wiki explains all.

Lawl Volk, i'm a minecraft hack compared to others out there... my shit is simple as
Ex-OCAU Server:
Strong Bad I built myself, using a larger version of my avatar as the template. It uses cobble, grass, obsidian & lava.
Pyramid tower goes to sky limit, and underneath is down to bedrock... lot size is 40x40.
Mineaholix:
CobbleRack Tower is mossy cobble, netherrack, glass and cake
Goatropolis farm cube goes down to bedrock and has Tree/Cane/Wheat/Cactus farms. It's 50x50 and I built it with a few other peeps.
My Golem Pirate ship & raid boat (in top left corner) I also did by myself, primarily out of sandstone, sails are wool (they took a bit to work out). Golems are made out of dirt.
