it was more likely the fact that he decided at that time that entering the big slippery grassy area at the start of bend was a "good idea" instead of just slightly more grippy area of tarmac.
That is a UK new VR-4 which means it is badged as a Galant even though it is a Legnum. This was done because Mitsi UK didn't want to have to try and market a completely new name plate.

Corner entry wasn't too fast, he just turned in too early and hit the grass and started going sideways. Tyres only work in the wet if they are going forward, hence him not stopping before the wall making it look like he was going too quick.
And LOL Bruce, you are right, nothing is idiotproof
considering the speed and severity of the impact into that tyre barrier, the car held up pretty well and suffered a considerably small amount of damage...
