Hi all,

I am the owner of a black '96 Galant VR4.
120k kms, stock and in pretty good condition and I got it for a good price, she's been a plenty fun car while it lasted.

I had an accident recently though for which I got a photo quote of $3000. Where's the best place on the forum to find a decent panel beater? If someone knows a mate that would be handy too.

I'm pretty keen to do some performance mods in the repair process and after she's fixed.

!! Welcome To OzVR4 !!

Hopefully a few S.A. people can recommend a good place for repairs.

How bad is the damage ? Photo's ? Because if you can source the parts you might find it will be alot cheaper than quoted.

Front bumper, LHS doors, skirt, front guard and rear quarter panel damage
Intercooler and LHS control arm (I already bought a replacement control arm)
And whatever that thing I circled is.

Circled thing is bov. I bet it barely wants to run with a huge split in the bottom tank of the 'cooler too.

Yeah it cuts out heaps. I tried sealing the line (as you can see, professional sticky tape job) to the bov and it worked well the first day and as of a week ago it keeps cutting out again... (I was going to try again today but I have to charge my battery first)

BTW, should I be posting here or another subforum?

Yeah I really wouldn't bother trying to start it until all the massive vacuum leaks are fixed. New bov, new cooler etc.

Discussing your car is perfectly fine in an intro thread :)

Good opportunity to upgrade the blow off valve and intercooler :) The front bar is easy enough to replace, the panel beating on the rear is what would concern me the most. What happened? Did you scrape all along the side? Can't see any damage to the front door in those pics.

I most definitely will upgrade those. Any recommendations on what/where to get them?

These two caught my eye: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2013-HDI...=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b119d72d
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/APEXI-TW...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a90662f13

Let me know if they are too cheap. I am happy to get something really good to compliment other upgrades if it is worth it. I'll even buy from other users if possible.

I hit a guardrail which scraped the side and then zoomed into a ditch where the nose dug into some grass.

Front door is damaged with scratches and a smallish dent.

(sorry about the pole being in the way, it is not covering up any damage)

Thanks guys.

Depends on the price Simon, I was intending on upgrading anyway, so I might as well do that unless it's real cheap.

G'Day Evan :)
I see you found the forum after our text chat yesterday, good to see you here.
I will send the control arms as soon as the funds come through.
I can see now why you asked if I had any body parts available, at least you will be able to source everything you need now.
Good luck with the repairs.

BTW, if you want to see all the work I did to my VR-4 it's all here... http://www.ozvr4.com/threads/phil069s-2014-galant-vr4.14309/

Doesn't look good mate. Sorry to see it that way :(

Where abouts in Adelaide are you based? I know of a few good panel guys.

I will investigate those cooler kits. Hard piping would be nice.

Yeah I found your ad on this site pretty quickly after I bought it Phil. Turns out I was a member but I guess I just didn't feel the need to become a Premium Member until I got in a bit of trouble haha. I'll look over your thread some time. Looks really comprehensive and useful.

Bigfoot, I'm based in West Hindmarsh at the moment.

I'm chuffed at the amount of support I've been getting. I heard everybody had moved on from from VR4s to Evos so I didn't think I would find an active forum.

Best tip I can give you is when you need something, go and see Jon at Driven Motorsport in Salisbury North. It's a bit of a trek but well worth it!

The Adelaide VR4 scene certainly isn't anything like what it was even 2 years ago for one reason or another. There are still a lot of us around though and this forum takes over where the local scene can't. Best $10 you'll spend I rekon!

Welcome Evan. Although I guess you've been here since July... hopefully you've found the place useful.

I know you've paid for membership and you obviously don't need a template but I'm a creature of habit.
