Ok guys..

I have just got back my spare engine from my mechanic and it is sitting in my garage, just staring at me and saying hey Chiliie I think I could do with a rebuild... Hehe

So I have decided to do just as it has asked for...
This Ofcourse will be a slow process due to time and funds(which is fine with me) as I am definately not in a rush..
That and plus I am a chef by trade and not a mechanic.
So in saying this, it will be a learning curve and am happy to take advice and also have an open garage to anybody who is willing to help me along the way..
(looking at you Smitty) haha
But all info and knowledge will be greatly appreciated..

I will be taking a long hard pain stakingly good look and read through our wonderful forum aswell on tips and guides as to how not to fuck this up.. Haha

Cheers Chiliie :)

Good luck! Just take lots of pictures which are named with some details, plus a note book will come in handy. Plenty of plastic tubs to keep all the bit's in, and I mean quite a few. Then bust that sucker open!

I'm doing the same, at the moment, I have all of the seals, except for the head gaskets, bearings and rings.. when my dad source these stuff from his contact I'll share the information here as well..

also while we're on topic, does anyont know where to source our head gaskets? please dont say mitsu shop as I refuse to buy it from them (unless its my only option)

sorry for the thread hi-jack but thought I'd ask here too as you might want the info as well..

And snap lock sandwich bags. Tape your bolts and nuts together. Number where they come from (ie clockwise from top. 1,2,3.....)
And a lot of luchboxes. It might cost you a little but you can seperate things easily and saves a lot of headache.

Cheers guys.
Well I'm looking at having the rods done, pistons, oversized exhaust valves and seats, cams, adjustable cam gears, bigger head studs, decompression plate,
Just to name a few things..
So im looking forward to all this hehe

post 42 and 48 are the pics and specs of the cam regrind I can offer if your intrested
cost is 850NZD for cam regrind and 24 brian crower valve springs + shipping and you have to supply stock cams. or can buy some from a club vr4 member local to me.

as well as
http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?63101-Forged-conrods-group-order

group buy on forged conrods started by Tomasz. both way cheaper then RPW

also whats your reasoning behind wanting to decompress the engine. 8.5:1 stock is pretty good.

Dude all the best with the rebuild. All the work you want to do is gona be a bit expensive but in the end you will have a bullet proof engine. For pistons talk to SPECIALISED PISTON SERVICES in Dandenong, he priced me $1600 for a complete custom made set. Rods your looking at $900-2000 depending who you go through.

If your gona go through with this you might aswell throw some bigger turbos on the engine and get the cams regrinded to suit.

Good luck with this.
