Flew up to Townsville this week and picked up a Legnum from @veegeeta.

The auto box is stuffed and slipping in 2nd and 5th gear as well as leaking like a sieve.
My guess is it ran dry on fluid at some point and burnt up the friction discs.

Picked up a manual conversion from Brisbane on the way back.

Drove it home in 4th gear without any major issues.

It does overheat a bit, I'm thinking thermostat isn't opening all the way.

Right hand indicator doesn't work when pushed all the way, but works when it's held part way. Will open it up and see if I can fix it.

Few scrapes on the body and a section of clear coat that's peeling that I'll need to respray.

Engine bay wiring is dodgy, whenever I move the MAF wiring it bogs down then throws up codes but have a spare loom that will be going in. (Thanks to @SMBenno)

Will be pulling the engine and box out soon, while it's out I'll do the timing belt, water pump, seals lifters etc.

Also need to rebuild the manual box before it goes in.

Bought a set of EVO 7 wheels with near new Pirelli tyres for $500.

I also own a turbo Mistubishi FTO GPvR which is currently down with @TME_Steve getting tuned.

Nice pick up on the Legnum. I was keen on the seats if he parted it out.
How much did the manual set you back? Was it just the box or the whole conversion kit?

I am jealous of you getting it. Was really interested, however couldn't risk driving it to Brisbane and it clapping out on me due to 1,200km in 4th. Advantage I have is I've got a PFL manual legnum which I could have stolen the gbox from.

Bravo to you good sir. Congrats on your purchase.

Sounds like you've got a bit of work ahead of you. However, it should be a pretty good car once it's all done. Does it still have aftermarket front pipes? Oh, and I like the FTO!

glad you made it home safe, btw I never removed any aftermarket front pipes from this car only the hdi intercooler has hot side aftermarket from what I remember and I took the wheels :)

FTOs never came turbo from factory right?
Nope, they were all NA.

They came with 3 different engines.

1.8L 4G93
2L V6 non-MIVEC 6A12
2L V6 MIVEC 6A12

The 1.8L isn't allowed for import because it's too similar to the lancer so we only have the 6A12 here, except for a couple of the 4G93 which were most likely personal imports.

Yup, that's me. Think I will be leaving them stock for now. I do have a few ideas but if I decide to go down that route it won't be for quite a while.
