Could it be running too lean and eating the plugs? Perhaps your fuel pump is dying?

The 6G72 DOHC in my old TR Magna suffered from a misfire under load (more pronounced in the top end) and it turned out to be a combination of bad plugs and the fuel pump getting weak and not pumping enough fuel, thus killing the plugs.

Testing on the injector ruled out the lean running and its only killing one plug so I don't think it's the fuel pump as it would happen on all of them.

I'm starting to think it has something to do with the change of voltage/resistance on the coil pack.

What I don't know is how the coil pack splits the spark to the different banks. Would a change in voltage/resistance be seen on both plugs or just one.?
Why isn't the plug on 4 getting burnt out at the same time as is plug 1 as they are both connected to the same coil pack.
