Leaving Skid Marks
I'm also thinking about getting a welder for those odd jobs that always seem to crop up. I keep meaning to see if my boss well let me go to some of the welding classes at work but I always seem to have too much on to be able to go.
The only time I've welded in my life was when on my first day at work, they chucked me out with some other newbies to get a bit of an introduction to the factory (you couldn't half tell I was a desk jockey, sparkling clean overalls, boots, and clean shaven
) and at the end of the day they had the bits up the front that the half a dozen of us welded up. I believe the instructors exact words when he saw mine were "Good thing you're going to be in engineering because there's no f#cking way we'll employ you as a welder!!" haha. I didn't think I did too badly, I'm damn sure I can use Solidworks and AutoCAD a hell of a lot better than the welders in the factory can
