I stooped by the dealer today to get some quotes on some seals and got the usual:

Mitsubishi Guy: "What car do you drive"
Me: "A Legnum"
Him: "A Magnum?"
Me: "No, a Legnum"
Him: "Oh, a Magna?"
Me: "NO A LEGNUM!"

Confused look from the guy behind the counter, I just gave him the chassis number but I still don't think he knew what I was on about, Hahaha.

The worst and most annoying thing about owning a Legnum is people from workshops telling you they don't exist.

Idiots...

Weird, Macca, that the dealer didn't know. I think Josh had his serviced there.

Makes it even funnier when Mitsubishi don't know about them :)

Slightly branching off topic, but why why why do so many people mis-hear "Legnum" as "Magnum" ??

Its not as though L sounds anything at all like an M.... and while Im sure most people have heard of a Magna and that is probably the word causing the confusion, but a Mitsubishi dealer actually let his brain honestly believe that a customer said "Magnum", the combination of a word he said, and a word he didn't say at all... and its not as though the dealer had been busy selling Magnas all day- you cant buy them new anymore!

A Magnum is an icecream.....

People just have stubborn traits.

Any logical person can see that a 4 door Skyline and a VR4 Galant are pretty much identical twins. Same size engine, 6 cyl, boosted, on the larger side for a performance car. Acceleration figures, handling, etc are basically spot on. The only real difference are the factory biscuit tins for brakes on VR4's. To hate one is to hate them both. Then again, you see bogans fight tooth and nail over Holden and Ford with their identical family spec cars.

At least slow illogical people make the rest of us laugh.

Melbourne peeps will like this.

Quote from a passenger who was in the car when I booted it a little too soon before the engine was fully warm (whoops) and hit premature boost/fuel cut:

"Just like being on a tram - only with seat belts"

Went out for a bit of a drive with a friend today.

Out on the highway I folded the side mirrors in for less drag, and put the car into tiptronic mode to overtake a car doing 130, my passenger's eyebrows raise.. then when I accelerated, her jaw dropped and she stammered: "Wow, this car's got hyperdrive!"

A little later, I opened the MD player to change discs. She turns to me and says "This car is like Bumblebee. I keep expecting it to transform!"

I guess the fact of the matter is; anybody who genuinely has an interest in wheels and is knowledgeable is never going to work at a bob jane type tyre shop.

Lol wasn't bob Jane. Was a place called "tyre zone"

They were contracted for wheel packaging. I don't like them, their wheels or quality of work, but they can package a mean wheel.

It is exactly the same situation when I went to Bob Jane, the guy who fits the tyres says, mate these tyres are the wrong size on your rims and I just said, just fit! lol

I was getting a quote for some parts over the phone recently.

Mechanic: "What car is this for?"
Dice: "Mitsubishi Legnum."
Mechanic: "Oh a Leglum...I'm hearing more about them"
Dice: *sigh* close.

You would think people have more common sense. A Lancer is half the size of a VR4. (Not literally)
